thanks all three lined up so I rotated it twice and everything is lined up the way it should be. after I turned the car off there is a buzzing sound coming from what seems like the Idler air control valve I have a strong feeling that's it. like you said it sounds like its getting to much fuel which it still blows drops out the tail pipe after a long idle to the valve might be bad and not giving enough air so its causing an over fueling issue and could explain the p0106 code.
with timing if you turn the car off will the marks on the cam gears will face to exact opposite with the mark on the crank gear? if they stopped at an angle? or should they all be facing the same direction?
did you have to do any advance timing? I've been reading on Frankenmotor dyno results - NA Fuel Injection Engine Tech - Ultimate Subaru Message Board
that advance timing could solve the issue. I changed out the ecu runs a little better but mostly the same
