Default SWRT's 98 RS

Hey everyone. I'm Ty. I'm 23 years old.

Table of Contents:

First Post - Previous cars.
Second Post - What's been done to it.
Third Post - Future mods

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About 10 or so months ago I bought a black '98 2.5RS. It was dirty, running and looking
like barf. I had to have it. I've wanted a GC style Impreza since I was 13 and
Colin won the 95 WRC.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First things first. I think it's important to know what people drove before. Some dont...you can skip this part if that's the case:

My first car was a 1995 Ford Contour I got for $800...it sucked. Wiring issues, overheating, transmission going out...a total train wreck.
In the end the car taught me how to drive on the road. I was young and did stupid things like we all do when we get our first car and it
was a good experience.

My second car was a 2005 WRX. When I got it it had 5,146 miles and was in immaculate condition and remained that way
til the day I sold it (car payments were killer). I learned the amazing power of AWD linked to a turbocharger. The car was
on rails. Needless to say after a few tickets and a couple tires it was time to grow up and learn to drive safer on the roads
but this car taught me a few things offroad too.

My third car is a 1990 Legacy AWD L Wagon:
I love this car. This has been one of the most reliable vehicles I've ever driven. It has got me through thick and thin and
has been going 26,000 miles strong with bad crank bearings. This car is amazing offroad and holds as much as most SUV's.
I've had it for about a year now and did a few modifications to it and as it sits right now it has some 05 WRX rims on it, but
the color makes them look like a ghetto wagon for now haha

- Dirty
- Clean
- How it sits now
( thinking of painting the rims white )

Now onto my most recent car.

My 1998 2.5RS.

Now I'm sure there's a thousand little things Bryan and I have done to this car over the last 10 months
that I've completely forgotten about :/

Here is how the car sat when I got it. As you can see it's nothing to write home about
but I was happy with my purchase.

When I found the car it was tripping 12 or 13 different codes.
The stock goldies were turning a brownish color from brake dust
or rust...I couldnt tell which.
The paint was faded and bland.
The interior smelled like death and the seats were worn out.
It had a satellite radio and only the front two speakers worked.
But at the end of it all the engine ran good (in spite of all of the codes
it was tripping at the time) it doesnt have any rust and the transmission
shifted super smooth so I figured anything else could be worked on.

This is my project car:

Bryan messing with it the first night.

Clean enough to eat off of.

Photos from the next morning:

After 10 hours of scrubbing, clay bar and a 3 stage black wax

And of course the next day Florida all of the sudden gets uncharacteristically cold.
The hood was popped a bit and heck...I have no idea why now. Was a while ago.

The interior was nasty to say the least:

"Mods" (most of which has been getting it running and back to stock)

Here's a few pictures of the "mods" and how it sits now:

Antennae delete - Never anything good on the radio anyway.

STi Shift Knob/Boot - The old one rattled a lot.

99 RS Seats and painted fabrics

STi Steering Wheel

Cheap Rally Armor Fronts - 555 Mud Flaps Rear - Clear coated them hoping they wouldnt rub...they sit low and my
rear shocks are crap :/ That didnt last long haha

While the Intake Manifold was off and getting cleaned with an air compressor and
gas I ended up cleaning up the rest of the ranch. Took these pictures today. Was
cleaner, but I live on a dirt road. Hardly a mod, but still better than that first night.

Tinted Side Markers, Front Signals and Repainted Rims

05 WRX 6-CD Changer

Painted/Cleared side skirts

And finally how it sits today (Clean is a rare thing on a dirt road)

04 WRX carpet installed. Didnt go in as smooth as I wanted, and it'll take a bit of adjustments, but it looks a thousand times better. (Pics will come soon)

Got half of my 04 WRX rear seats in. The carpet took a while and I ended up having to help my friend pull his 05 WRX's engine.

Hey, thanks man! I just installed the passenger side crystal headlight today. Makes the L bumper look a lot nicer with the turn signals painted black.
