I've heard the Extra-S is what the dealer uses for STi's and other performance Subarus. Dunno if there's any truth to that, but I like the stuff. Really cleaned up my Legacy's shifting.

I went to the dealer here last week looking for some Extra-S. The parts specialist said a lot of people come in asking for it, but they just use some random off-brand stuff in everything that I'd never heard of and can't remember..

that being said my Extra-S is getting here tomorrow

I put Redline in every car I own, why? Because my 99 Legacy manual tranny had a grind, smooth like butter after replaced with Redline fluid. I become Redline fan since then and never look back.

I roll with Subaru ATF (4EATer) and Extra-S in the front and rear diff.

Works for me. Commuting and autox.

Just an FYI, I recently switched from Redline 75W90NS with a quart of SmurfBlood (ShockProof), to all Extra-S. I'm not in love with the Extra-S. Shifts are more knotchey now. It still drives good, synchroes work fine, but just not as smooth in gear shifts. I'll be going back to NS+Shockproof for my next change.

Throw in a vote for Swepco 201. At <20F, it's damn thick and 1st is a 0MPH only affair, but once warmed up it's the smoothest fluid I've ever used.
