I just picked up a clean but neglected 02 OBS that I'm fixing up and I ordered a set of ebay headers for a whopping $77 shipped. Like everyone else I expected them not to fit out of the box but mine were not even close!
I used two methods to bend them into shape.
First I used my body weight (225) to bend them inward. Then I used a floor jack to spread them outward. It took 4 or 5 attempts to get them right but when I was done, they slipped right on.
Use your original exhaust manifold as a guide. Just match up the ports. This way you can check your progress without having to put them on the car. Take your time when spreading them so they dont crack.
I tried to link some pics but apparently tinypic and imgur don't work???? Can a mod make them work?
I remember when I ran that header I had to slip it over one heads studs and pull the other end outward to get them to slip on to the other heads studs. You could even see where they used spacers to attempt to keep the pipes from getting too close. Sucks they're getting worse and worse.
As far as attachments go, I really don't know much about them. Other than one for my build thread I never use them. The best way to add pictures is to upload them to Imgur and then use the Image tags in the thread to post the picture.
In Imgur when you are viewing a picture of yours it gives you a link for 'BBCode' which is the text you need to add a picture in a post. That is outlined in red in the image below.
You can also use just the image address which you can get by right clicking on any picture on the internet and selecting 'Copy Image Address' (Green boxes). Once you do that you can click the image icon on the top of the text field, the green arrow in this image is pointing to it. Alternitevly you can type it out as well by putting IMG inside of brackets ([ ]) The second one needs a slash (/) which means End. I've circled an example in a yellow box below.
Hope this helps!

Well, the tsudo high flow car did not fit with the eBay headers. Hanger didnít line up and the alignment was way off. Not sure if itís my headers or the cat but Iím guessing you have to use tsudo headers with the tsudo cat. Not sure what Iím gonna do at this point. Might just have a cat made or order one of the factory replacements from eBay.
few days ago, I've got into almost same shit.
So here's what to do: put ur stock header in front of aftermarket and tight them with nuts
*be careful, not to burst them.
When they're tighted together try to heat new one with a flame gun or something similar till it will not will perfectly to the old one
So I'm gonna the ebay headers with a WRX Cat back. Local shop is gonna fab up a 2.25" cat pipe really cheap. All I have to do is supply the cat. I'm trying to decide which Magnaflow cat to choose. I plan to get one of the HM series cats but I'm trying to decide on length. Magnaflow suggests the 99234HM (2" round pipe, 13" long). The 99235HM is 2.25" round and the same 13" long.
So here is my question. Would using a longer cat result in better emissions and less change of the CEL coming on? ie The 99305HM is 2.25" round and 15" long and the 99035HM is 2.25" oval pipe and 16" long.
Since I'm using the WRX catback, there should be plenty of room to use a long cat.
I ended up going with the 15" long and 2.25" magnaflow cat and my advice is stick with the original 13" size to make it easier for your exhaust guy to fit. Verdict is still out on the CEL. We will see if it stays off.
So, in summary. $77 Ebay Header, $40 for WRX catback, $72 for Magnaflow cat, $17 for spring bolts and doughnut gasket, and finally $90 for custom high flow catpipe. TOTAL $296 for a complete 2.25" exhaust.
Sounds good but not awesome. Pretty quiet inside the car and decent rumble from behind. Gonna look around for a better axleback. Sti, Prodrive, Stromung, etc
I wanna thank Phillip with Easy Muffler in Greenville, NC. I use them regularly and I can't say enough good things about them.
