Default Speaker fitment question (search function used efficiently prior)

I am a nood in car audio, as most of the time I listed to the engine anyways (8500 sounds nice)

anyway, my question really needs a simple answer - yes or no

would these speakers be plug and play for my 99RS?

yes, they are 6.5" and the depth is ok, but my question is - is it as simpe as taking off the door card, 3 bolts off stock speaker, connect wire AND 3 bolts back into the new speakers?

Yup, easy as that. I used to have these speakers (or ones that look just like them) in my front doors, and no modification was necessary. The ones I had were TS-G1641R.

They will NOT be straight plug and play. Those speakers have a positive and a negative terminal on two wires. The plug is not the same as the Subaru one. You're going to have to splice the wires. It takes a few minutes anyways but it's a pretty easy install.

Yeah, just splice the wires with solder + heat shrink tubing, or cut the stock connector off and crimp on some terminals that are the right size for the terminals on the speaker. Easy.

ah, good
I don't mind cutting wires, it's the adapter/bracket part that I don't want

In that case, refer to aegean93l's first post. You'll be fine.

The crutchfield adapters work great. It's kinda weird how crutchfield doesn't have the info on the speaker sizes for an rs. I went there the other day to double check the front speakers where 6.5 like the rear ones, and it stated they had not collected info on the vehicle.
