Default Shadow's Indecisive Compulsive Ratchet Wagon

Ratchet GF8

It's been a while, and I mean a long time since I've been on here or had a Subaru that I deemed worth while to aimlessly spend money to make it worse than what it already is. Long story short I needed a winter beater, and with how compulsive I am, found this GF8 posted on facebook, responded right away, and the car was delivered to me same day.

Now some of you OG members remember me from my Eastwood Co days and unfinished projects I unloaded or parted. Since then I swore off on Subaru's, with constant unreliability, headaches, and annoyances. But always seemed to always own one in the mix but refused to build them. Luckily with my old age came new wisdom with the companies I worked for and other builds/cars along the way. From Fabspeed with exotics, to a speed shop, and now I'm doing Lexus Performance.

Back to the fun things, bought this wagon on a whim. Higher mileage, freshened up engine (2.2L), 5spd, and a rough body. At least it came with some goodies. BBS STi wheels, some suspension yet to be figured out, hella fogs, exterior pieces blah blah. Needless to say it runs, and drives so for the next 3 months it'll serve its purpose of being an obnoxiously loud car in the development, along with AWD if it ever decides to snow. It'll need a few things in the mean time, sloppy shifter, random switches, body work etc.

But now my dilemma is what route to take, even though I'm fairly set on my choice but just like any small child, I change my mind frequently.

Option A: EZ30/EG33 Swap. Keep it NA but have a little more fun with mid 200hp
Option B: Closed Deck EJ20 build.
Option C: 2JZGE/GTE

If y'all know me you already know what dumb shit I'm about to drop money into. So the game plan will be to collect and build parts I need in the mean time, swap will happen in February.

Parts List to Gather ahead of time:

Exterior:
Seibon Carbon Hood
Seibon Carbon Fenders 10mm wider
Carbon Roof Skin
ZG Carbon Flares
Battle Aero Frame Mount Spoiler (GR Wagon)

Swap Components:
2JZGE/GTE VVTi
Wiring Specialties Harness
AEM Infinity ECU
Racepak Gauge
Radium Fuel Rail
ID1700 Injectors
GSC S2 Cams
TSS Fab 2JZ Front Subframe
TSS Fab Rear Subframe
R230 Diff
CD009 Transmission
TSS Rear Hubs
DSS Driveshaft
Radium Fuel Cell
Walbro 450 Fuel Pump (Hardwired)
Custom Exhaust Manifold (Hood Dump)
Custom Intake Mainfold
Collins 2J to CD Adapter
Collins Short Shifter

EZ30 + 5mt is awesome. Sounds so mean and the relatability of N/A.

If you find an EG33 I'll trade you an EZ30 with all the fixings.

I have the ease of getting an EG33 from a friend of mine with all new gaskets already, I guess it’s more along the lines of “do I want to keep it AWD” and I already know which one I will end up doing.

Updated with a small parts gathering list for myself, unfortunately I jumped the gun on the 2JZGE engine as it seems that no one wants to touch the harness for an NA engine. Oh well, guess I'll need to go 2JZGTE.

In the mean time I'll be cleaning up the body a bit, adding carbon where I can thanks to wholesale costs and get this underway.
