Default Frankenstein's show car.

Sorry if I make a mess of this, I've never posted more than classified ads on here before.

for the past several months I've been looking for an RSTI coupe. Most of what I found was either on the opposite coast or out of my price range. I really didn't want a wrx swap so I figured I'd just build my own RSTI, Because I'm delusional about my mechanical skill. I was surfing Craigslist looking for swap candidate when I found an ad for a ''Custom Subaru 2000 2.5rs". It had a pretty decent list of mods, and had a tempting price. Naturally I did the most logical thing and offered 1000 less than priced. amazingly he accepted and I set up a time to meet and check it out. I was a little torn about the car, on one hand it's a good deal, on the other it's not a coupe and it needed head gaskets. I drove about 2 hours up to see it and as soon as I saw the rear wing I was sold. The crazy long list of mods was just Icing on the cake.

it started life as a 2000 2.5rs and was soon transformed into a show car to advertise for an auto shop. That was probably about 13 years ago. the exterior has seen better days but it has pretty decent guts.

I forgot to mention the custom fenders. The auto shop that built the car custom made those. I'd love to know if anyone has seen a pair like it, or are interested in buying/trading them.

i bought my car with one of those aftermarket alarm systems. That thing was the spawn of satan. Car's exterior looks gross, but it seems like you are well on your way to addressing that. cant wait to see where this goes.

I have little hope of finding all of the exterior parts I need in the right color so pretty soon it will look even more Frankensteined. I feel like most of the exterior is a look into the mind of a crazed lunatic with a hefty wallet. oh yeah, If the looks of the car don't catch your attention the screamer pipe will.

I'm in the process of replacing the head gaskets and seeing if anything else is wrong. I pulled off the external wastegate because the previous owner said it wasn't opening. Nothing seems to be wrong with it, although it was installed in a less than Ideal spot(only place it would fit). My best guess is that they were running too much boost(30lbs!) I tuned it down to 18, so we'll see. I think the wastegate wasn't opening because the turbo wasn't spooling all the way, and they tuned it to only open after 80% boost.

glad to finally see more pics and info of this build. I think I came across the previous owner on Facebook but he didn't post much of it. Seems like you got a long list of goodies!

FYI, i have to announce it. if you EVER sell the hood, keep me first in mind ive been hunting for trial parts for years.

the hood IS for sale. I have it posted in the classified section with some other stuff.

I feel like I got a good deal on the car, but I can't help but feel a little unsure. I think that if I post the amount I paid someone will say "dude, I could have built that for like 3k, lol".

I just got the heads off to discover that one of the cylinders has a big ass chunk missing. The previous owner got to enjoy 30lbs of boost and I get the mess he left behind. I guess I need a new block now.
