Hello there, since I am pretty bored I decided to do a Members Journal.

My name is Ari and I live in Iceland. In 2011 I found this car wrecked outside a garage in a town close to where I live. It had no engine, no gearbox, no exhaust, and every single window, light and body panel was smashed. Right away I wanted to buy it and use the hood, bumper, seats and such to make my Outback nicer.

A few months after I found it I bought it and got it home. When it was home I changed my mind and decided I wanted to rebuild it, thought it was going to be easy, cheap and quick, well in short... I was wrong hah. I finished it two years later, took such a long time because I didn´t want to spend too much money on a turbo engine and tranny so I got a cheap parts car with a 2l N/A and swapped everything over to the GT as we call it here. Then when it was time for bodywork my friend talked me into buying a turbo swap. So I started again... Swapped everything back out again, don´t regret that at all now lol.

I´m not going into much more detail about the process since I already did a build thread on another forum. But I will show you some pictures though :)

When I found it and got it home. Both front wheels, 4pot brake calipers and something more was missing from the car. Might have been stolen since it was there for 2 years or something...

Home sweet home

I´ll skip over to the turbo stuff... Bought an 2l turbo engine, orginally from a Impreza GT and just like the engine orginally in the car. With the engine I got: 5speed GT Turbo gearbox, 3" exhaust, XS Power headers, 4pot brakes, wire harness, ver6 MOMO Steering wheel, ver6 seats (front and rear), orginal RS/GT 5spokes and some more stuff I´m most likely forgetting.

Did some basic maintaince on the engine, timing belt, waterpump, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, fuel filter changed all oils out for Motul and more.

Then it was time to swap the harness once again...

Sandblasted and got the wheels painted

Then it was time to take it to a shop where I work were my co-workers helped me with the body work.

All ready for primer and paint

Then the assembly

Painted the lower half of the interior black. And yes, I also painted some parts blue, and I personally like it

Custom made licenceplatelightholderplate (is that even a word?!?)

Custom gauge pod

Gettin it all together

And on the streets for the first time after rebuild! Oh the joy!

And first time back home after rebuild

New lights arrived

Custom licence plate holder I got made for me

On a local carshow last summer

And here is a roof spoiler I bought way back, it is a bit shorter than the window it self so I wasn´t sure if it would look good enough...

This fall I had a minor accident...

But thats fine, I just got a new fender and it gave me a chance to paint some new stuff, new parts, new look

8000k Xenon installation

Blitz BOV istallation with a custom made mounting plate

New gear knob

Got LED´s for the park lights to match the Xenon

Sparco pedals

And the last thing for now, I started making a trunk lip. Made a thread for that here

So, I might have a chance on buying a empty EJ207 (?) STi block. And I would then gather parts to build the block for some decent power. This is a list of parts i can think of from what I have seen in other builds

-ARP headstuds
- ACL or King bearings (A friend told my to get the king bearings rather than the ACL)
-Wiseco pistons
-Manley H-beam connecting rods
-STi crankshaft
-11mm STi oil pump

So if anyone can chime in and comment on this it would be great. Also, what headgasket, waterpump, and other stuff should I go with? I will be using stock heads from the engine I already have and I would be wanting to get around maybe 350-500hp.
Basicly what would I need in the block/engine for that much power? Any help appreciated :)

Sooo... A little update. I bought some new wheels last week and will be getting them repainted since they were a bit rough and they'r black. The wheels are Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 17x7" ET45. Not the wheel size I wanted but they where cheap and I got them with 225/45 tires in "mehh" condition too, sooo :run: But I think I might want to go for 215/45, not really sure...

Test fitted them on my Outback

And test fitted it on the GC

Sooo... Nothing new here for except that my wheels are coming along slowly, might get them painted within the next few days. And summer is pretty much here so I might get the car from storage tomorrow or something.

Oh and here are some pics I took recently :)

Yeah I can´t wait to see the colour on the wheels :noes: But I didn´t really like them that much on the wagon, I found them to be a bit clumsy or something... They might just have needed some smaller tires, these are 225/45 17 :)

Never would've looked at the first pics and figured you'd turn it into that! What a tremendous job, I'm jealous I don't have all your tools/equipment.
Thanks alot man, and yeah I know I am very lucky to have all these tools and places to work :)

I need a bottle of lotion some tissues and 15 min alone with this car.

Seriously that is one sexy ride!

Pheew, glad you don´t live in Iceland, haha jk thanks man

Great looking car, nice work!

I really want to visit Iceland soon.
Thanks! And yeah people really like this place

those wheels are gonna look HOT!
Can´t wait to see how it turns out!!

Finished sanding the primer today after about 4-5 hours spent on it, now I just hope they can be painted tomorrow :noes:

Sooooo... The wheels were painted yesterday and I test fitted them today. Won´t be putting tires on them until next week to let the paint cure properly, and I will most likely buy new tires.

Anyway, lets see them pictures! They look soooooo gooooood   :jerkit:  :noes:

IMHO

Took them outside to see how they looked in the sun :noes:

Thanks! :)

very nice paintjob on the car and the wheels, I need to paint my GC, well my Uncle is gonna be squirting it but I gotta do the grunt work, excited to do so though but kinda waiting to do the engine swap and all at once! Awesome job on the car though and those wheels look 100 times better!
Thanks man and good luck with your build :)

Such a great build! Great job.
Thanks! :)

And I might as well throw this up here. Me and a good friend made something, the only thing left is to cover it up with some nice carpet or something. I didn´t take pictures of it finished with the amplifier all wired up but this is how it looks :)

Are you ventilating the amplifier? They get hot, and if it's in an enclosed area it'll overheat and blow. Just a heads up!

there's another member on here (or was on here) that lives in Iceland. He also has a 4 door but his is blue ridge pearl. Madvillian, where you at!

Yeah I saw him post up in some thread loooong ago. I don´t know him but know the car, always really liked it. But he doesn´t own it anymore, and sadly it has just got worse after he sold it I think :)

But haven´t done any ventilating for the amplifier yet since this isn´t fully finished yet and honestly I didn´t really think I had to :run: But I will make sure to check this out and find a way to ventilate the box, thanks for the heads up :D

Bought new tires today and got a friend to mount them for me :) And the wheels are on the car, must admit that I´m gonna miss the white stockers :rolleyes:But here are some pictures I took, will take some good ones soon :D

Old tires :run:
