How "Roxy" Looked When I Got Her Back (Exterior Only):
Sorry for the bad quality... I didn't take any "actual" before pics so I had to use what pictures my cousin had of the car before.
Introduction to how I gained ownership of her again and a little bit about me:
Many of you remember me on here as "RoxyTheImpreza" back when I owned a SGM 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i (Ver. 1.0 ) This car was very sentimental to me, after having a lot of memorable "first times"/"close calls" and this being my first car, it had gotten me through my adolescent years and had really become a part of me and who I was. So when I decided to finally get rid of it (sell it) I knew I wanted to "keep it in the family". My cousin who lived in Dallas at the time was in need of a reliable vehicle to get him to and from work. He too was a Subaru lover… however he had never been fortunate to own one. Well, it was a couple months before I was set to leave for Basic Military Training (BMT) and I knew I didn't want it sitting around for 2 months so I offered to sell it to him... he agreed, we wrote up a contract, and he began making payments on it. I left for BMT... 8.5 weeks later I graduated BMT, got married, and had a beautiful baby girl... not to mention my new wife already had 2 children from a previous relationship.
I was now a "family man". During my Tech School (where you learn about your specific job in the military)... I started to get that Subaru itch... I began combing the auto seller sites looking for a Subaru. Seeing how I was now a family man I knew an impreza wouldn't cut it, I needed something bigger... a Forester! I quickly decided on a 2004 Subaru Forester 2.5XT… I knew I wanted something with more room and something that was a lot quicker than my Impreza.
As the first year of ownership of the forester went by and I got settled into my military life/job and the routine of family/being a dad I began to realize that my wife’s car (a 2010 Nissan Sentra Sedan) was not cutting it for my family of 5. WE NEED MORE ROOM! We began car shopping for something bigger… we knew we didn’t want a minivan (we’re just too cool/modern for that ) so my wife was telling me how she rode in a Ford Flex and really loved the look/room the vehicle had. So with that, we went to the Ford dealership and fell in love with a Blue Micah 2011 Ford Flex Limited… This thing was the flagship of all the vehicles we had owned before… leather seats, wood grain, navigation, Bluetooth, driver memory settings, powered lift gate and third row seat, back up camera with sensors, holds 7 passengers CONFORTABLY!, I could go on and on with all the features on this vehicle! All I knew is that I we wanted it… so guess what… we bought it
but not without a pretty big price tag (which was expected with a vehicle of its type and features).
Then the day of realization came It’s going to be a little tough paying for the new ford flex and then the Forester on top of it… obviously we weren’t going to give up the new Ford, we needed something of its size for our family… So bye bye Forester it was… No worries I was all too happy and excited for our new vehicle. As the days went by and the hassle of sharing one vehicle grew I began to get that Subaru itch again (they should really make a cream for that ) I needed a vehicle I could mess with and personalize… I needed something I could call my own, but it had to be cheap… how was I going to manage this?
I began searching the internet and came up with nothing… I decided to give my cousin (the one I sold the Impreza to) a call, he expressed to me how he was really looking to free up some of his debt, and that he also needed a bigger vehicle (a truck) for work. We worked out a deal where I traded him parts plus the money that he still owed for the vehicle to come out to a “price” he felt comfortable with to “sell” the car back to me. He reluctantly “sold” it to me only because I promised him I wouldn’t sell the car and always keep it in the family. Yay, I got my baby back and without an out of pocket expense, just what I needed!

Getting the car to look how I want it to.
I took “re-ownership” around the beginning of October 2012… she was in need of a little TLC as she was being used as a work mule for my cousin and had also been in a minor “incident”. I’m not going to lie, the inside was filthy (wish I would have taken some interior before pictures), like I said she was being used as a work mule on a ranch so dust and dirt was everywhere. I removed all the seats as well as trim pieces so I could easily wipe down and vacuum everything. I also took this time to remove wiring for accessories I had installed before originally selling her like a CB radio, Hella fog lamps, Garmin GPS, and other accessories.
I installed my Pioneer HD Radio/Navigation system that was in my old Forester into the Impreza as well as my Scan Gauge II W/ Blendmount Mirror mount, as well as my Homelink/Compass rearview mirror. I also installed my Escort Radar Detector Blendmount mirror mount and the hardwire kit with mute button… now I just need the radar unit :P
She also needed a few interior trim/panel pieces which were replaced.
I swapped out the “Subaru logo’d” airbag for my “STi logo’d” airbag I had in the Forester, It matches very nicely with all the other STi interior pieces.
I purchased KartBoy Short Shifter from TheGoldenFist and paired it with a black shifter extension
and I also got a knock-off STi Shift knob for $12.50 total price shipped to my door… it’s actually a quality piece! It goes very nicely with the RedLineGoods.com shift and ebrake boots that I also swapped from the Forester into the Impreza. Now all I need is the STi Shifter trim so I can finish the interior (will be ordering soon)
While I had the glove box out I knew I needed to replace the Cabin Air Filter… and boy was I right:
I always tell my wife, it's the small details. Here is another example of that:
The STi key, yes it looks very nice as it is, but it could look even better with a bit of color on the STi logo.
This mod is VERY easy to do, even if you can't paint anything to save your life, YOU CAN'T MESS UP!
1st get your plain Jane STi Key:
2nd pick your color of nail polish (this is when it helps to have a wife/girlfriend)
3rd Take the brush out and blob a nice amount over the STi logo, don't be scared!
4th quickly take your paper towel and wipe directly over the STi logo:
The paper towel will soak up all the nail polish on top of the STi logo, but will leave the paint that is down in the grooves of the logo! Allow proper time for the nail polish to dry and repeat steps for a second coat, if needed!
5th marvel at how nice your key looks now and wonder why it didn't come this way from the factory
