Back Story

Winter of 2010 I bought my 01 Legacy, probably the best choice I've made in my short life besides purchasing a motorcycle but that's another story.

I purchased my legacy for about 4k, turned out to be a hell of a deal and came with a warranty which I would cash in on later. About 2 months after I bought my Leggy I encountered a problem, drinking coolant like it was coolaide at a bbq. Took it to a local subi shop and had them do the timing belt as well as the head gasket and was trouble free for about 3 more months. Had a coolant flush done on it with a chemical used to remove oxidation..must have plugged up the thermostat because.

On the drive home from the gym I started overheating :O, pulled off every few minutes to let the engine cool down and keep it out of the red and limped it home. Installed a new thermostat and found a bunch of funk encrusted around it -_-. I performed ANOTHER flush by pouring coolant in to the engine and letting it drain out again after getting semi full.

My next issue was this past summer about 7 months after the coolant issue. Rusted 1\4rs, for 600$ I had them cut, welded and under coated by a pro restoration place around the Greenville area. Not the best price but for out in the boonies it was damn good work and came with a word of mouth guarantee.

This is how she WAS.


And this is how she sits right now.
One thing not seen in the pictures is the JDM fog lights I installed in the stock location. (pics on those later ).


Mod list as of this picture.
17in SportTuning cast wheels with 17x7.5 Khumo rubbers.
2 KC hiliter long range driving lights (I live in the woods and like to go fast, in order to do that you gotta see the road ).
2 Green 8" glow sticks from www.12volt-travel.com wired to a potentiometer so they're controllable. They're installed under the dash and shine on the foot wells.
4 6.5 PowerBass speakers.
Touch Screen single din head unit also from 12volt-travel.com


Pictures of the EG awaiting installation.
Going to pull and paint the intake after a good degreaser bath and steam cleaning. Thing is going to be clean enough to eat off of .

Swap complete, I'll be updating with pictures of the final product over the next few days.

1) useless without a valve body upgrade. There simply isn't enough pressure to hold the gears with this much power(WOT in D mode). Or do a MT swap.

2) shifting manually helps this issue 100%, totally leave it in D for cruising, but without a valve body upgrade shift manually. No throttle while shifting.

3) I love having 240ish hp on tap, I never want another car that doesn't have 200+ hp.

^ Hell yea, can't wait to feel the extra 73hp and 80lbs of torque.
Going to have to reduce weight next I think.

Rear mount battery, rear washer fluid, strip the trunk and Seal it somehow that's lighter than carpet. Cheap effective weight cutters.

Legacy Outback sway bar picture comparison to stock!


Oh and I can see why this bar will require reconstructive surgery on my ass. The damn thing is shaped like a banana right in the middle . Too bad I don't have a press or I could flatten it out and avoid beating my car.

so you got the outback swaybar? nice! how much did it cost you?
i actually installed my 17 inch wrx sway bar yesterday and like the difference it made! makes the car feel a lot more confident on corners. you dont feel like your going to room over onto your side lol

Yeah it's the rear sway bar from an early Legacy Outback or is it Outback Legacy? anywho 18mm with all the right bends .

I wonder if a local machine chop could press it flat in the center, that would be enough to keep me from having to beat my car to death with a BMFH. then again if they did that it may not meet up with the mounting points .

I'll get it working in short order regardless. I think my next upgrade for the rear will be solid end links. From what I hear 18mm is pushing it on stock rubber links.
