Default Aczwild's '98 Impreza RS - AKA how to blow a lot of $$ to build a track slut

So I guess its time to finally break ground on a new thread/ build journal for the car. I have always wanted to build a prepped car for Autox & track days (SLMP, LRP, MTS...) and I finally found what I was looking for.

I picked up a '98 Impreza RS 'Unicorn' just over a year ago from a member of Nasioc who was moving to Texas from Mass. He was the second owner since 2001 and he "babied' the hell out of the car (albeit a few winter TSD's and ice races). He handed over every single record he had (all alignments, work, etc) and a ton of parts. The car was never modded too much (ACT HD clutch and plate, Group N motor mounts, KYB front struts, Goodrige SS lines and a few other small things) and the car is pretty much rust free compared to a normal VT car (just started the normal rear quarter rust bubbles).

So immediately I started to mod the car to get it ready for Auto-x at the least for the 2011 season. Unfortunately some things have cropped up when working on the car and I haven't been able to get it out to the track, though I still drive it now and then on the street. I want to hold on to this car for a long time so I've been replacing anything and everything that isnt in almost new condition (yes all the way down to bolts, washers and nuts).

So here's the mod list to date (including items that have been ordered and items that are sitting in storage waiting to be put on when the rest of the accompanying parts come in) along with a few pics of the car. As you'll see in the mod list I'll be swapping the engine for a Turbo variant, I just have to decide which especially since I have a full long bolck EJ22T sitting in storage.

Just finished rebuilding the rear Brembos. Just waiting for the DBA kit to come in from Mach V and the spacers from Subimods

Almost done, just have to Bleed the system and adjust the parking brakes tomorrow!

This thing is going to be so damn nasty! Gotta get used to the stock brake pedal feel in the Spec though

Oh and all I have to say is I love the Motive Power Bleeder System and catch bottles!

Thanks man, I love these too, so much so that when I found out the hard way the the original owner from Hong Kong hadn't disclosed one of the lug patterns on a wheel was totally fucked, I tracked down a second set here stateside and was able to score them to fix the issue. Course that meant that to have this look with the wheels I spent a little over 3K! But at least I have replacements for one of the rarest and hardest to come by sets of Subaru aftermarket wheels.

I'll let you know when I'm down your way. I love to just go on random drives and as this car progresses I'll love them more and more. Cant wait to test out these brakes!

Yeah, I'm in Japan and have seen your wheels maybe 5 times. And I saw a 22B yesterday. Let's just say I keep a lookout for older Imprezas and Gold 5 stars, especially if they are forged monoblock. Much jealous, take care of them!
