While I'm waiting on the rotisserie to arrive (I ended up splitting it with my friend and his dad and we'll take turns using it)..

I decided to get cracking on the engine refresh.
This thing looks GOOD. I almost didn't want to tear it apart.

Cam seals look brand new, timing belt looks barely used as well..

Got both heads off before calling it a night. Need to check the block/heads for square then I'm going to install the viton valves, ARP studs and new headgaskets.

Cross hatchings on the cylinders looks almost as good as the day she was born

the cleano-est!
My friend didn't believe it was the original crosshatching. I got a straight edge and some feeler gauges so I can test the block and heads for square.

anyone know the tolerance for subaru block/heads? 0.030?

anywho.. here's the rotisserie in action. We're cleaning the underside of his prelude and then my car will get towed over for the same treatment.
Gonna spray epoxy coat and then raptor liner (rhino liner)

I wasn't going to remove the hatch cuz I didn't want to deal with the wiring pass throughs.. but when I went to inspect it looks like the previous owner didnt want to either. (probably why he deleted the rear wiper) :(

Anyone have one of these for me?

Doors open mang!

My helper watching me remove the rear brake hardlines

brake and fuel hardlines out, ebrake cables out, hatch out, tail lights out.. not much left bolted to this chassis

can't wait to clean this naked bay up and get it painted! the epoxy coat is a flat gray, gonna just continue here while I do the underbody.

on the pole

degreasing time!

lots of pressure washing.. I was cold and soaking wet.

lots of sanding

straightened out the front end so no more sagging headlight.
pounded out some of the dents in the rear quarters.

should hopefully be painting by this weekend

I think this rotisserie was only like $1200. Expensive for a one time investment but you could probably resell it? Either way, worth its weight in fucking gold for the work i'm doing now.

Yeah, I'm super pumped this thing will be better than when it rolled off the factory floor and rust proof! lol (knock on wood).
Never gone this far with a build before but will have very intimate knowledge of every bolt and crevice on this chassis.

More.
Fucking.
Sanding.

Engine bay is finally done. Jesus that was probably the worst part of this.

roughing up any bare metal - this is the last part before I can epoxy coat

welded the stupid antenna hole shut

and mounted the side skirts since the holes will get primed and be rust proof
