How's this thing doing these days? I really enjoyed reading through this a couple years ago.

I do have some updates that I haven't posted. I am going to post them to catch up with where it is now. But there is still no happy ending.

about a year ago, I put everything together, literally assembled it 100%. Had it ready for inspection, had a bottle of champagne to celebrate... Then when I drove it on a first real test drive on the road, not just moving it in the driveway in 1st gear, I saw that it just runs like utter shit and has no power.

Upon extensive troubleshooting it turned out that injector 3 is not firing at all. No signal to it at all, as I tried multiple injectors.

It might sound weird for others, but that got me really depressed. Having put so much of myself into this whole project, time, sacrifices, money... It just felt that no matter what, I just can never reach the end. It all just felt like the curse of Sisyphus.

I just had to walk away, physically and mentally...

I missed seeing this thread pop up with updates!

But I totally get the defeated feeling after putting so much time and effort into the car. Sometimes the best thing is to put it aside and let the fire rekindle.

Bro I go defeated by GD pedals in my 1995. The car has say 8 years since 2011. Finally pushing through the body kit and paint to start over.

You got this man

I started reading that story and immediately thought you were going to say you hit a deer or something. Glad that wasn't the case. Engine issue can be fixed. Good luck man, you'll figure it out.

Hey Osgood30, I know how a curveball like that can be a major demotivating factor. If you want to pick it up again I'll be following the thread and I have some ideas for diagnosing where you're losing the injector signal. If the rest are triggering, then hopefully it's as simple as a wire that got damaged and it'll just require a bit of acrobatic multimeter usage to track down and a butt connector. When I wired my new engine up I actually spent a couple days hunting down engine and ECU issues before finding out I hadn't slid the terminated wire into one of the connectors far enough. <_<

Thanks for encouraging words everyone. I am planning on resuming this in the spring, maybe late winter on the warmer days.

One thing that I will never do is to totally give up on it and sell it, ever.

I know how it goes, gotta keep after it. I had a real eye opening experience when the police came knocking on my door about the 'Abandoned Car' in my yard...
