Hello there, since I am pretty bored I decided to do a Members Journal.

My name is Ari and I live in Iceland. In 2011 I found this car wrecked outside a garage in a town close to where I live. It had no engine, no gearbox, no exhaust, and every single window, light and body panel was smashed. Right away I wanted to buy it and use the hood, bumper, seats and such to make my Outback nicer.

A few months after I found it I bought it and got it home. When it was home I changed my mind and decided I wanted to rebuild it, thought it was going to be easy, cheap and quick, well in short... I was wrong hah. I finished it two years later, took such a long time because I didn´t want to spend too much money on a turbo engine and tranny so I got a cheap parts car with a 2l N/A and swapped everything over to the GT as we call it here. Then when it was time for bodywork my friend talked me into buying a turbo swap. So I started again... Swapped everything back out again, don´t regret that at all now lol.

I´m not going into much more detail about the process since I already did a build thread on another forum. But I will show you some pictures though :)

When I found it and got it home. Both front wheels, 4pot brake calipers and something more was missing from the car. Might have been stolen since it was there for 2 years or something...

Home sweet home

I´ll skip over to the turbo stuff... Bought an 2l turbo engine, orginally from a Impreza GT and just like the engine orginally in the car. With the engine I got: 5speed GT Turbo gearbox, 3" exhaust, XS Power headers, 4pot brakes, wire harness, ver6 MOMO Steering wheel, ver6 seats (front and rear), orginal RS/GT 5spokes and some more stuff I´m most likely forgetting.

Did some basic maintaince on the engine, timing belt, waterpump, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, fuel filter changed all oils out for Motul and more.

Then it was time to swap the harness once again...

Sandblasted and got the wheels painted

Then it was time to take it to a shop where I work were my co-workers helped me with the body work.

All ready for primer and paint

Then the assembly

Painted the lower half of the interior black. And yes, I also painted some parts blue, and I personally like it

Custom made licenceplatelightholderplate (is that even a word?!?)

Custom gauge pod

Gettin it all together

And on the streets for the first time after rebuild! Oh the joy!

And first time back home after rebuild

New lights arrived

Custom licence plate holder I got made for me

On a local carshow last summer

And here is a roof spoiler I bought way back, it is a bit shorter than the window it self so I wasn´t sure if it would look good enough...

This fall I had a minor accident...

But thats fine, I just got a new fender and it gave me a chance to paint some new stuff, new parts, new look

8000k Xenon installation

Blitz BOV istallation with a custom made mounting plate

New gear knob

Got LED´s for the park lights to match the Xenon

Sparco pedals

And the last thing for now, I started making a trunk lip. Made a thread for that here

Intercoolerpiping, check!

And this is how the alternator belt stuff will be solved. Just need a longer bolt and one bracket for alternator and thats it.

And since today was payday, tomorrow I'll be ordering some new injectors and a fuel filter. Going for 750cc Denso injectors and a Russell fuel filter (pretty sure it's some American muscle racing item but it's a resonable prize so why not).

Thanks, and sorry lol, I'm painting it black. Can't wait to see how it turns out :)

Took a closer look and did some sanding in my lunch break, it needs a little love but it should look good when I'm done with it. Too bad it's fiberglass tho... but who cares, it'll be fine :)

Well, did some more work the lip and attempted a test fit... and guess what, typical my luck... **** doesn't fit. It was too short on the ends, so it looks like I'm going to have to start doing some fiberglass work to make it fit properly. If I won't get it to fit right there is no way it's going on my bumper. Anyway, I'll post some pics of it

This is how well it lined up

This is after I cutted the bottoms out so I could make new ones that fit

I won't go into much details of how bad it fitted but I'll just post some pics

Thanks alot man, really appreciate the kind words :)

Anywho, time for an update, a long time ago hah...

Got my fuel filter, and it's tiny and actually rather rough but it was said to be okay for injected engines...

Also got my fuel rails but still waiting on the injectors to be able to make the brackets for them

Alternator bracket

Got it all welded up and installed

Started changing the fuel pump, but it turned out to be a long process due to some **** in my gas tank..... -.-

Finally got the crap mostly cleaned up

Also did some work on the fender liners

Got new tiressss, 205/40 and they look rather tiny for now lol

Some test fit with the 90° elbow on the fuel rails

Test fit of the fuel filter

Current bay pic

Took the spoiler off because I need to fasten it better. Here are some random pics

More progress more pics :)

My Black Ops injectors finally got here

My friend made some progress on the box

And I made a bracket for the coolant reservoir in the meantime, still need to clean it up abit

Sandblasted (glassblasted) a few things

Test fitting... still have to make brackets to hold it in place, we'll most likely be using the bolts on the gearbox/engine were the starter is and the other side too.

Got a better silicon hose for the inlet and it fits perfectly, doesn't even touch the manifold!

This is were we'll mount the ignition, fits perfect too. I can use the stock wires for the spark plugs and all

Hopefully we'll make some more progress today and this weekend :)

I've made some progress the past days, picture dump!

Got all the shiny stuff in

Then I made brackets for the filter box, the custom stuff isn't as pro any more because my friend doesn't have enough time to work on this with me any longer so I'm doing everything myself for now

And I also attempted to make brackets for the fuel rails but they always came out to high so the injectors are somewhat loose... Will be trying to get a guy at work to help me with them tomorrow

But I still mocked it to see how everything would fit and so on. Thinking of making a bracket for the ignition coil that holds it in the place pictured and that bracket would then be welded on the bracket for the box

Yeah that makes sense, thought of it but not sure how I would go about doing it, especially since I don't have my friend to help me fabricate stuff any more... And thanks, I like it a bunch! Will be replacing that stainless 90° with a silicone hose though. It will make my life easier hah :)
