But for now this winter "im just going to throw some rods and pistons in this EJ206 and push it back to 30psi. I think its the 9:1 compression that makes it driveable

Yea itís a shame. I think itís the combination of being an old block, and the #3 thrust. Iím keeping the 22t around Incase I feel like paying to have it fixed, but Iím giving up on the 2.2 as well. So, no need for the JEís now. Bummer lol.

Iím thinking of doing 9:1 but since I donít have ethanol everywhere yet, tuning it on 93 makes me a little nervous. Probably just gonna do 8.5:1. Anything is better than the 8.0:1 in the usdm ej205.

At this point Iím 90% decided on a 2.0 block for this build. Doing 272 cams and springs/retainers. 2.0 with cams and 8.5:1 will kill my low end, but I should feel more comfortable revving it out

Yea Iíd probably be fine, but I just donít know how close to the knock threshold Iíd be trying to hit 400whp on 93 and the 9.0:1 compression. The 8.5:1 should give me a little more saftey I think?

True. I am excited to tune a motor that has strong internals. Iíve been so cautious and conservative with this 205 to avoid knock....itíll be nice to not worry as much.

Curious to see how much the cams will change VE.

Updated engine built list. Definitely way more than I originally wanted to do, but should be solid. Should be done in a few weeks.

2.0 case halves
75mm crank
8.5:1 pistons (builder recommended)
Manley H-beam Rods
ACL bearings
Kelford 270 cams
GSC springs and titanium retainers
ARP 11mm head studs
Few other things

Time to start breaking transmissions!

Nothing really to update. Just taking a little break and saving money while the built motor gets finished up. Should be done in a the next week or two I think. Then Iíll have lots to do.....finish assembling the long block, add some gauges to the car, redo some fuel stuff, re-tune the whole thing lol.

Iíll be driving up to STPR in a few weeks and hopefully take my coupe like I usually do. Thatíll be the last of my summer road trips for this car, and itíll be time to get to work on things. Plan is to get the built engine in the car a few weeks after STPR, and have it running good by October so I can enjoy it before winter.

Busy busy. Still waiting on the built engine and been working overtime some weekends, so no real progress with the car besides some minor tuning stuff. Also went back up to Watkins Glen 2 weeks ago for a day trip to watch Blancpain GT.

....but yesterday, the car made it up to Wellsboro for STPR. Itís not that far, but this ej205 is getting old and Iím just happy itís still running good. This should be the last of my summer trips for this car, so itíll be time to get back to working on stuff again. Have some projects I wanna start.

Tune was solid for the drive. I fixed my tip-in finally. I think Iíve finally got this setup as consistent and drivable as a stock wrx.
