Cutting aluminum piping? Run a bar of soap on the blade first to keep the aluminum from sticking to the blade ruining it.

Default 2001 Impreza L | WRX swapped | Rust repairs and weight reduction!

Been a busy few weeks with events, trips, working on stuff......and Flickr has been making it really difficult to post pics from my phone lately.....but, I did some stuff to all the cars, dynoíd the coupe at boxerfest, then the following week I drove it 4.5 hours to Watkins Glen to watch racing all weekend. Fun stuff. More detailed post with more pics and videos soon.

Now that stuff is over, Iím trying to get back into things. Got some TIG projects I wanna start soon.....and..... Iím FINALLY gonna drop off stuff to a machine shop so I can FINALLY have a built engine. Just gotta see which of my 2.2 blocks are useable. More on that soon....

Just a few random pics from the race weekend for now. Still going through stuff:

I said I was gonna have more details in the next post.

277whp at 16 psi.

Map was for 17 psi, but the heatsoak was crazy and it didnít give enough WGDC, so it was only hitting 16. Which is good, thatís what the compensations are for, but still lame.

Oh well, it was a good baseline. I confirmed that g/s is really, really close to actual whp.....and load (g/rev) is similar to torque. My logs almost matched the dyno numbers.

Also a good test for high temp speed density stuff. No knock at all, and AFRís were right where they usually are. Pretty happy about that.

Thank you! Iím surprised itís interesting enough to read all the way through. Been a fun journey. I may disagree with you, as thereís a lot of builds way cooler than mine on here, but I appreciate it.

Yea I may have to switch imagine hosting again. Flickr is getting annoying to deal with.

Finally dropped off parts for the built motor this morning!

Still not sure what route I wanna go, so I dropped off 2 blocks to give me some options. First theyíre just checking to see if they blocks are good and useable. They both should be, but I wanna make sure.

One block is an n/a 22e from my 98L sedan. It only had 110,000 miles and Iím hoping itís in good enough condition to use some standard bore drop in pistons to save some money/time. The other block is the 22t block, and thatíll need oversize pistons, likely custom. This is the more expensive route, but would be stronger/better.

Either way itíll be a 2.0/2.2 hybrid with forged pistons and rods. Can. Not. Wait.
