The Red Bomber and other orphans

I've been on this site for a very long time, many cars have come and gone. So i decided it should at least make a journal of my latest DD.

I don't have a ton of time to work on this, between my new garage being built and moving from one garage to another, working and picking up some house duties since my wife got a full time job.

But this is what she is: Brilliant Red 1995 Subaru Impreza L Sedan with a 2.2 and 4EAT. Manual windows and door lock also. 163K on here with timing belt and oil seals replaced at some point

Picked her up for cheap after I hit a deer with my 01 RS. Best part about it no quarter panel rot just a little rust starting. Very surprise for being a PA car all of its life.

First mods was some cheap struts and i picked up a set of 02-03 Maddad Road Hugger Springs from a buddy to give me a small drop.

I swapped a set of Legacy 15" 5 spokes with newish tires on them since the original owner was running bald tires in the back and new ones in the front.

Transferred my 19mm rear sway bar with kartboy endlinks on it also with a set of cheap ebay strut tower braces.

Also did a small tune up and flush a filled all fluids.

After i got all this sorted out and got a great alignment i decided to see what was up with the spray foam holding the headlight and marker in on the drivers side.

Since I removed the headlight the only spares I had were the 99-01 crystal clear headlights, so i installed them and a set of side markers. No grill for now until i can get to the junk yard.

Then the snow started here in the good old NE PA, so the set of studded Firestone Winter Force tires are on now.

playing around with the swapped green car i picked.

the ecu in the car, any ideas what exactly it is from?

then took it for a ride and it bogs really bad when hitting boost, this might be a starting point.

then looking under the dash saw this fuse popped and when replaced it blew again:

i know it has a cel on but what is the procedure to pull them i'm unsure of because i don't know if the car is wired as an obd1 or 2

First for the Red Bomber a nice little gift

now on to the green jdm swapped coupe:

i wanted to get rid of the ver4 front bumper, so i down graded it back to the 95 impreza bumper. i believe it looks so much better.

also added in the crystal clear headlights and grill that matches for the hood looks correct.

some of the specialness that i found along the way:

so i actually started working on the 205 swap for the red bomber.

tore the engine to refresh it and sent the heads to the machine shop to be checked.

was called up and told i have cracks.

now the question is run them or scrap them.

talked to a few guys that deal with the 2.0 engines and most said to run them.

what do you think?

Legacy turbo cross member and 04 sti steering rack with new bushings installed.

Now I have contact multiple gurus about my axle situation and the other Josh is using the same fxt transmission as I am.

We both ran into this issue.

As you can see the abs ring is sticking out.

Storm just said to ship it, my concern was no stone guard on the back side of the hub.

But he put my concern on hold saying there was oil seals protecting it and if I wanted to I could remove the abs ring since it serves no purpose for my car.

Now I'm on the hunt for Impreza male on male axles because of this.

The fxt axles are 4" longer than the Impreza ones.

Dirty transmission

Spent about an hour with purple power and then used the brake clean and compressed air trick to get it to a satisfactory clean.

I'm not shooting for show quality but clean enough for when I install it or work on it I don't get covered in grease and grime.

Slow progress this week on the swap.

Got both front axles in along with the clutch master and slave installed.

It was time to start on the rear differential and rear subframe.

Most bolts came out fine for a 95 that spent its whole life in PA. Only one subframe bolt made me nervous, but gently I went.

I'll need to clean the bolts up and chase the other end for I have no issues on the reinstall.
