Gotcha... Thanks for the pics. I'm currently communicating with Rallysport Direct about the issue, I think Killer B was unaware of these pans being on EJ255's.

post #29, i put a link to SF with others that have the same issue. I wouldnt have known either except for the fact that I held a 257 pan in my hands this weekend and noticed they were different

Turns out this is a tremendous issue:

The clutch fork won't pivot because there isn't enough metal left to hold the pin in place. I need a new bell housing half now

Congrats on the purchase, my condolences on the nightmares.

What exactly is wrong with the trans bellhousing? It looks fine from the tiny image.

Thanks

The pull type transmissions have a pivot pin through the clutch fork that is held in by casting on the bell housing. On the driver's side (right side of the image), the prior owner appears to have managed to break it off either by trying to separate the engine and trans without removing that clutch pin, or by trying to jam them back together somehow. Either way, I cannot fathom the amount of force required to break that. Good times.

After putting the engine back in today, we tried the clutch and the fork popped out immediately. We then pulled the engine back out, then pulled the transmission.
