Removed the oil pan:

Removed the flywheel and and removed from stand

Then you remove the pistons.

I did not take a pic of this process or my tool i made. I will have to do that somehow for you.

A tip to split the block with no damage. Use your jack!

top

bottom

about 4 small cranks later, it opens.

Pull top half off

more to come later

My sweet crank with rods...

Block looks good...

Bearings 1-3 are good, 4 had some oil starvation which lead it to over heat. I could not hear the motor knock, if it was, and if not, it was about to.

All parts removed

I pulled the nasty ass carpet from the car, holes and unknown stains galore.

Motor all built and cleaned up. Heads ported, 200 grind cams (larger lift, oem duration), and a Medieval lightweight crank pulley. I stayed with the oem flywheel because this pulley is only 1 pound!

Re-surfaced oem flywheel

Oh and yes, that is a hankook ventus v12 evo in a 275 variety that I am ruining with my exhaust studs

Removed the egr valve and pipe.

Removed and blocked off the air pump assembly. I used the passenger side air pump plate from my 07 sti, worked perfect. That was replaced with a cosworth one when I deleted that air pump. Just another lego piece hehe (group n motor mounts in the background)

Did the common throttle body coolant bypass.

That is actually the right side hose, you can see it would snake up to the TB. I just moved it down, cut off an inch, and it fits perfect!

I found a hell of a deal on 2002 WRX front brakes, so I snagged them.

re-surfaced rotors

these should be fun with the drum brakes in the rear!
