after all that, now updating this list im really liking the Advan RCIII as well as newer Volk TE37V, which are supposed to range from 16-19 lbs, prob around 16.5 for 17x8.5: http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/2009/products/wheel_en.php?code=VOLKQ_TE37V&size=17&for=domestic
only problem is my options would basically be (16 or 17) 8.5j+30 or 8.0j+25
however, this guy apparently fit 17x8.5+30s, and looks like easily

BUT theyd really be so hard to get to fit, id probably consider something plain jane steel wheel looking like a cragar soft 8 (23+ lbs ea) powder coated or painted bronze. the trick will definitely be finding something light while still taking advantage of the generally lower prices, but either way im pretty sure this means im basically headed in teh direction of truck wheels; such as:
also cragar makes a 5 spoke lookin thing:
http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/large/crr-3655712_w.jpg
american racing options:
- VNA69 ansen sprint: http://images.wheelpros.com/cbVN0691.png
-15" only? 15.5 lbs, 5x114.3, 4" backspacing, ~175 ea
- AR172 baja: http://images.wheelpros.com/cbAR1721.png
-16x8+0, 16x10-25, 17x8+0; ~$150 ea, 25 lbs, 4.5" backspace
- AR767: http://images.wheelpros.com/cbAR7673.png
-steel, 26lbs, 16x8
- AR23: http://images.wheelpros.com/cbAR0233.png
-16x8,+0, 21 lbs, 8lug only?
and the necessary correlations between truck wheel specs and passenger car specs:
https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html
keeping in mind i will probably have to use a spacer to convert from 5x100 to 5x114.3
==========================================================
A MORE REALISTIC STEEL WHEEL OPTION....
http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/drwcustom.html
I use them in size 13x8", Neil Shelley uses them in 13x9" and Patrick Lipsinic uses them in size 15x10".
Note that the "torque ring" diamond stamps into the centers are just a hair too big in diameter. This puts immense stress on the rotor right at the corner of the mounting face and hat. This can and will result in rotor failure unless steel spacers are used. Pat broke 2 or 3 rotors, I've broken 1 and I don't know if Neil has broken any yet.
Other than the need to run spacers, 45 degree lugnuts instead of 60 degree, and getting 4 wheels that are straight (true) they are a good bargain....very strong!

othershit mentioned here:

Re: Spin works wheels
I sell the Spin Werkes Dbl. beadlocks for 1099.00 each. They come in 16x16 with 4 or 5 inch backspace, bolt circle is 5 on 4 1/2, 5 on 4 3/4, 5 on 5, or 5 on 5 1/2. We normally have them in stock, if not usually 1 to 2 weeks to get them. They also have a 16x15 version with the same bolt circle options also, for the 10.5 tire guys, hope that helps.
These wheels only weigh 21.5 lbs. They are about 4 lbs lighter than the weld dbl. beadlocks, and 2 lbs lighter than the standard american racing dbl. beadlocks.

^^ Yeah, my monitor lacks the "auto-focus" feature too.....
Tim: The naked wheels are from SpinWerkes (dotcom). They're an offshoot of Circle Racing wheels. These are alloy 2pc wheels. For the 15x10, at 15lbs, the cost is $249/ea. versus a Kodiak, weighing 10lbs at $375+/ea. Steel wheels in this size hover around 22-25lbs each and cost roughly $140/ea.
Gil: Yes, I've had to adjust my driving with wheels sticking out this far. Even the 13's stick out quite a ways....so I'm kinda used to it. If I'm hitting cones with the inside rear wheels, I just go faster in that section on the next run. Works almost every time!

maybe bassett, but only in 15s
