In our pursuit to build parts that bridge the gap between new and old, we are looking at doing an Intercooler Splitter with a Water Spray Nozzle for 98-01 hoods. The splitter will be designed to work with 2.0 WRX intercoolers, 04-07 STi intercoolers, and an option for a block off plate for front mount intercoolers.

Once you swap your GC, it’s critical to make sure the air is forced through the intercooler to maximize its effectiveness which translates to the engine making more power because of the colder air.

The base will be standard and the gaskets (WRX, STi, or block off) interchangeable so if you start with a WRX intercooler and upgrade to an STi or front mount you will only need to purchase one piece instead of the entire splitter which will save you money.

Mine came yesterday. I haven't fully installed it, but I set it in place to snap some pictures. First impressions:

- Seems like it was built well. Fits right inside the intercooler and the holes for the shroud line up with my hood.

- It makes me realize how close my bov must have been to my hood as the shroud sits right over my turbosmart bov. Hopefully it won't rattle against it, but I'm sure I could modify it somehow if it does.

- The design in an inner piece stuck inside an outer piece. They are held together with 4 screw bolts in the corner. I am going to tack the pieces together in a few spots just to strengthen it some and to prevent any vibrations/rattle.

- I run the bakemono scoop so I bought this assuming I'd have to modify the center divider to be slightly taller. However it looks to be just about dead center with the height of my scoop. So I'm going to leave that is which is a plus.

I'll work on it getting it fully installed later this week. The underside of my bakemono scoop needs some fiberglass work and sanding to make it more oem like. So far I'm very happy with this. I think your next projects should be a plug and play abs delete kit, and a plug and play IC sprayer kit:)

Thanks for posting this! Glad you like it. In reference to the tacking it together, you'll find that once the splitter is bolted to the hood it pulls everything together. We did a bunch of testing and did not hear any rattling but if you want to tack it and have the capabilities go for it! :D

We are working on an IC sprayer kit, just need to find some more OEM looking parts. Next two adapters are likely a proper GR TMIC bracket for the passenger's side and a power steering reservoir bracket.

Excellent!

Has anyone tried this with an aftermarket intercooler? I have a spearco and would like to get some sort of splitter set up.
We have not but looking for people to give it a shot. The concern is always that the aftermarket ones are bar and plate so they may stick up a little too high. However the metal fins that come down could be trimmed down to match and then install the rubber gasket.

So I finally put the spray nozzles on my splitter and I find that the spray just hits the splitter and drips down into the IC...

Should I look at bending the sprayer mounts down a tad to try and get the spray angled downward to hit the IC itself?

I'm not sure what happens while at speed, may not be an issue there, but it is an issue when sitting idle and trying to prevent heatsoak.

Thoughts?

I misread what you wrote (and I think Spec R did as well). I was under the impression it was just dribbling, but what's happening is that they are hit the diverter in the center. They are designed to mimic the V5/6 OEM sprayers which very well may do the same thing but I don't have one to test. Do you still have your STi we could verify with?

Certainly it would work much better with the car moving, but I do see your point about the heatsoak while sitting.
