Hello all, was wondering what kind of engine swaps i could do on my 1998 2.5rs. I know ej205 would be one of them, but would like to see what other options there are for this car. Please no bad/rude comments that wont help me. Just looking to be pointed in the right direction, i would rather do it the right way than the wrong way. Thank you.

Subaru EJ, EG and EZ engines will bolt up to the motor mounts and the transmission. Other engines will require at least modified motor mounts and a bellhousing adapter.

To be more serious, there's two approaches you can take:
1) Find a swap that someone else did and use it as a recipe
2) Find the engine you want and then start tracking down whether people got it working*

*This is harder

Read the stickies in the swaps/conversions subforum. Here's one to get you started. Which Swap is Right for You?

my advise, look for a donor car, one that was rear ended etc.., with the engine you want. Then you'll have everything you need and usually save money, time, frustration and a lot of homework in the process
