Default Forchs 97 Brighton Build

Hello everyone and welcome to my build.

Intro
This is my first Subaru but my 17th car. I've always wanted to build a lightweight track car with very usable power. For the past few months I've been searching for the perfect car to do this and I landed on a GC coupe. It's fairly light from the factory, awd and a huge after market following as everyone here already knows. After searching craigslist and forums I finally found a cheap car to start the project. It's a 1997 brighton auto with 115k miles. The body was pretty clean so I bought it on sight and drove it home.

The Build Plan
My plan for the car is to gut it, swap it to a 5MT, turbo the 2.2, over fenders front and rear, and beef up the suspension for as little money as possible. <-(Ha that was a funny thought)

So far I've replace the spark plugs and fuel filter with OEM, new air filter from auto zone, replaced the positive terminal on the power line, gutted it from the front seats back, removed the A/C pump lines and canister, and the windshield washer tank and line.

Next up is to remove the carpet, the rest of the stereo system, the rest of the AC system including interior controls, relocate the battery to the trunk, and fix the hood and radiator support.

The car appears to have been in a minor front end accident because the radiator support is snapped in two spots and the metal bracket behind the front bumper is slightly pushed in. The previous owner decided to weld to small metal plates on it, remove the latch from the hood and drill two screws through the hood into the support to keep it down

So this is how the engine bay is currently sitting:

5/31/16: Removed the carpet, lower dash, center console, and radio bezel. Also removed the sound deadening on floor behind the front seats which weighed 8lbs! So all the rest of the deadening is coming out minus whats on the trans tunnel for now. Also started on the battery relocation. All interior parts are currently for sale for dirt cheap on craigslist in the Northern NJ section if anyone is interested. Also I'm picking up a 5speed transmission tomorrow out of a 98 R.S with the shift linkage and shifter, rear diff, and tach.

Battery relocation works but I'm leaving slack in all the lines for now and everything is temporarily mounted until I get my new battery and mount it in either the passenger side of the trunk or behind the passenger seat. Also picked up a 98 RS transmission with shifter and shift linkage and matching diff.

Don't mind all the interior parts for sale lol

Just need to finish cleaning them then they will be painted and next week I'll be buying a master and slave cylinder along with a 2.2 flywheel and 2.5 clutch kit. Just need to keep hunting for a driver shaft and pedals.

What's the trans code on that 5 speed? Looks like a DCCD box to me.

Update! Haven't really messed with the car since my last post but started back on her this week. Cleaned the throttle body which was filthy and sticking and the MAF which seemed to fix the idle. The bad news is the front crash beam is toasted and the whole radiator support, not the just the top like I was hoping, is bent and busted . So it looks like the trans swap is on hold and I'm going to be replacing the whole front end: RS hood, AIT 40mm front fenders, radiator support, black housing headlights, amber corners, crashbeam and STI front bumper. All the my stock components will be for sale for dirt cheap and I'll be searching for those items in the North Jersey area so if anyone has them please DM me. Will post pictures tomorrow.
