COST:
car - $1500
parts - pfft!!...well over $2K. more like $3K (tell me to swap, i'll tell you kiss my ass!!)

FUEL:
92 octane (Shell V-Power)

HP GOAL:
250 HP+ at the engine depending on fuel demands

HP ACHIEVED:
280HP (238WHP) / 279TQ (236WTQ) @18psi (No tuning, just pulls, very rich tune with very conservative timing)

300HP (255WHP) / 295TQ (251WTQ) @ 20psi (With Hallman MBC and optimum fuel and timing adjustments)

THE CAR:

1993 Impreza FWD (not even an L)

Good-bye NA!!

dont mind the cell phone pics, i'll get better shots of everthing else afterwards.

which one??? i think i'll take the one on the right.

got started on removing and disconnecting wiring and the intake manifold for braided parallel fuel lines.

that's all i got done tonight. my goal is to get it done hopefully by the end of this month or early july (not anymore), despite my busy schedule.

sorry shag, my dad and i are all that i need so far. thanks for the offer though. a friend of mine in his turbo'd sentra had a stage 3 clutchmasters clutch on his car, it felt pretty much almost like stock. as long as it doesn't have that hard pedal feel like ACT or similar, i think it'll be fine.

If its anything like my 1.8 ecu was, you will need the egr physically there to keep the cel away. I thought it was cool to use a blockoff plate until I realized there is a tiny sensor downstream of the egr valve in the runners. When the egr opens, the hot air heats up the sensor to tell the ecu the egr is opening. If the valve isn't there, the sensor won't get hot and the ecu will kick the cel on. Otherwise you could mount the sensor to somewhere very hot on the block and hope that's enough to fool the ecu.

I'm running a jdm 2.5 ecu now though and it doesn't need the egr, I've just been too lazy to make another block off plate.

Look on driver side runner under and to the rear. If there's a tiny sensor screwed into the manifold with super tiny black flexible wires coming out and going to a grey plug, you have the sensor. I didn't think the 93 had egr though. If you don't have the tiny sensor, you can just plug the small lines going to the egr solenoid and leave the solenoid plugged in. Then you can make a blockoff plate for the egr holes.

again, sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. my wife hogged the camera for the past two days so i had to improvise once more.

so far i ripped my koyo radiator out, drained the oil, removed the alternator, separated the engine from the tranny while still mounted, the car is now on stands (not pictured below) removed the front bumper, rewiring my engine harnesses, test installed my fuel rails on the intake manifold and...

MUWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

still has the bubble wrap on it. working with the dremel on the bumper is fun until you get hot melting polyurethane on your face.

the missing paint on the drivers side of the air dam was not the result of my cutting skills, my son chipped the paint off with a flat screwdriver. little devil!!

got stock inlet clearance issues on the 1.8L?? here's the fix, courtesy of 034motorsport

like a glove

my exhaust setup after teh downpipe (borrowed pics)

still need to wire my avc-r and aem uego. more to come

okay, so my megan header/uppipe and downpipe have been sent to a local exhaust shop to weld O2 and egt bungs and my tial 38mm ewg (came in today). i had them weld my egt bung on the #3 primary, anybody welds theirs anywhere else? some say #4, but why #4?? in stock series design, #4 gets fuel first so why do some guys report it failing? shouldn't it be #3 where it gets fuel last and IS near the uppipe and turbo? i don't know, it's going on #3 for me.

my stock O2 sensor broke coming off so i gotta get another one, fuck!! also got an oil cooler kit just in case the koyo aint gonna hold back the heat alone.

slowly getting there.....

workin on my EJ22T heads. replacing cam seals and o-rings, valve stem seals, ground/lapped the valves, cleaned the heads, test fitted my fuel rails as well. also, the intake manifold will be painted wrinkle red. after this, i'll be notching my crossmember.

finally got the damn camera back

i got issues with the egr, i think i'll extend the egr pipe from the intake manifold and tap it to the #4 exhaust manifold runner. if not, i'll see if the EJ22T head can be tapped for egr. i still wanna keep it for driveability.

so far, i've gotten the motor out yesterday, and cleaned that sucker dry. it almost looks brand new. the pistons were polished after i cleaned it it up, the cylinders look brand new as well, still got the cross-hatching, no scoring and what not. slapped the turbo heads back on and torqued them up with the cometic hg's and arp studs, i just need to replace the water pump to the wrx one. now i gotta do the clutch and flywheel. the tranny bell housing was so dirty inside, omg!! i guess the last person that owned it blew the pilot bearing and never cleaned up his/her mess. there were ball bearings and metal shavings all on the bottom from the last clutch. surprisingly, the rear main seal was still cherry, but i'm still replacing it. looks like its gonna be another week or two 'til it launches.

sorry no pics this time around though :(
