Default Light Rotational Inertia Vs. More Grip

So with the advent of the "hellaflush" movement, there has been a big push in affordable "wide" wheels...however alot of these come at a cost...mainly weight since alot of these are cast. I'm wondering what your thoughts on the above "qualities" of wheel setups are as in pertaining to a swapped GC in terms of overall handling/behavior.

Basically setup #1

16x7 Desmond Regamaster 11.5 lbs a piece
225/50/16 Star Specs @ 16

Vs

Setup #2

17x9 Rota DPT @ 18.5 Lbs a piece
255/40/17 Star Specs @ 20 a piece

Do you think a car like the GC that while relatively light, still is somewhat front heavy benefits more from having lighter wheels and less rotating mass like a n/a honda or miata...or benefits more on the flipside because of having more power then the 2 given examples, from having wider tires.

Just wondering what your thoughts on this are...I'm looking at either the 16x7 Regamaster, 16x8 slipstream or buying some form of 17x9/17x8.5 Rotas. This is more a general "Swapped GC suspension/handling tuning q" so i'll leave the rest of my setup out of it.

aftermarket wheels are a waste of money unless you're racing competitively or need them due to bigger brakes. only wheels i'd spend $ on are 2004 sti bbs.

les rotational mass and unsprung weight FTW! Setup #1 and WOW!!! 11.5LBS each? I thought my 16x7 12.2LBS volk te37 v6 sti wheels were light. Pick up a set of 225/50R16 Azenis RT615's awesome tires.
