Default HID for our Subies

Is it illegal to have HID on our Subies? Not them cheap fake HID kits from ebay but these kits from the following link

Xenon Factory.com

and

HID Online

Just need to make sure if it's safe or not

from what i've heard, it's illegal to have HID in cars that didn't have them from the factory in the state of CA.

I like the Phillips HID from HID-Online. The bulb design is very much like a regular halogen bulb, which also has that little cup thingy on the bottem and sides to block the light from reflecting to the "high beam" reflectors. It's costy but that'll be the only one I'd get. Others with just a HID bulb and adapter that does cover the bottem parts of bulb I wouldn't get because the light would reflect off the high beams due to no cover/cup.

Similar Housings

See this cup thingy on the top coil, that's the low beam coil. That CUP helps block light from reflecting on the high beam reflectors. THEN you have the HIGH BEAM coil, which is on the bottem. It doesn't have a cup to block lighting thus allow it to reflect lighting from all the reflectors in the headlight housing.
