Default Wrong approach?

EJ25 N/A run off EJ18 ECU, MY'00.

Stock everything, including injectors, plus gold emanage.

My man scales the injectors from 280 to 210cc. Airflow adjustment map is positive up to about 70% throttle and 3,600rpm, from there it's trimmed heavily up to the horsepower peak and then little less. IPW is added in the midrange also. Ignition is advanced from 10 deg at idle up to 2 deg at WOT/redline.

My feeling is that scaling the injectors is not necessary given that they are the stock injectors for this engine, if not the ECU. I think that scaling the injectors is adding fuel everywhere and also subtracting timing across the board. Adding more fuel in the airflow map just retards the timing further, we should be adding fuel (where needed) via the IPW map. There is no choice but to use the airflow adjust map up top because the gold cannot trim via the IPW map.
Current results are good, the car runs sweet and strong, and open loop AFR is the 12.5 range up to 5,800rpm where it's allowed to drift to about 12.

Opinions?
