Default Problems removing spark plugs

I'm tryign to do a basic tuneup, but it feels like there is a rubber sleeve covering the old spark plugs... I can't get any of my sockets to go inside them, but over the plug. Any idea what/why this is happening? How the hell do I get these old ones out? I have a DOHC EJ25.

Not to sound like an ass, but you pulled the plug wires right? Other then that, you are using a spark plug socket? Should be a no brainer...

Not to sound like an ass, but yep...

I've done a crapload of tune-ups before in my time, and I've never run into this problem before. And, yep, I'm using a spark plug socket, believe size is 5/8.

Check your plug wires. Did you tear part of it? Part of one may have ripped off and got stuck on the plug so the socket may not fit over it.

I think part of the boot is still in there. Use some needle nose pliers, grab the rubber piece and pull it out.
