| 1.8L | Hey guys, I searched and couldn't find much on the Link engine management, so I made a thread. First off I'm not a subbie driver, but here to help my Uncle with his RS. He has a 99' RS that has an AVO turbo kit running Link EM. The car was originally tuned in Florida, and he moved to Oklahoma a few months ago. It ran fine for about a month or so and began to run very rich. Note that the car does not have a CEL, so we cannot pull codes. Also note that OK does not have 93 octane like FL. Trying to get his car running, I swapped out the plugs (very fouled), and the car ran for about a week. Running rich, it fouls the plugs up very fast. I pulled the front O2 off and it was extremely fouled. After replacing the front O2 and burning the excess fuel off the spark plugs, the car ran okay for about 20 minutes. It putted a little at partial throttle and ran best at heavier throttle. I also cleaned out the IACV. At first I thought it was something mechanical, but now I'm starting to lean towards the tuning. Does anyone here know how to tune the Link? I can give the specs that shows on the system and forward it on here if someone needs to see how it's currently setup. I tried to turn fuel down on the Link, but it will not save and I'm not fimiliar with the system and would not want to be responsible for breaking something. :P Also, would it take a month or so to cause it to run the way it does? I'm not a Subbie guy, so I'm not sure how well the OEM parts handle aftermarket upgrades. Also if anyone thinks it could possibly be something else, please, don't hesistate! I've read through the troubleshooting FAQs. Last edited by ef9turbo; 06-29-2009 at 09:36 PM.. |

| Is the Link a piggy back or a complete ECU? My guess is there is something wrong. The tuning shouldn't change that much from one place to another. If the car is still using the MAF that would be the first thing I'd look at since they were a bit iffy on the 99's when turbo'd. |

| 1.8L | It's a piggy back linked into the stock ECU with a little controller box that you can plug into the piggy back to tune. The car does not have a MAF anymore. Also, my bad, I dunno why I called it a D-Link. Probably because I was looking at wireless routers prior to posting. LOL! Also, its an older model Link piggy back and has this http://www.linkecu.com/products/Tuni...s/tuningmodule Last edited by ef9turbo; 06-29-2009 at 09:41 PM.. |

| 2.5L RS-T | Does he have the handheld tuning module? If so, you want to look at the AFR targets for all the zones. It's probably trying to reach an absurdly rich target for some reason. I've tuned my own link, but not the model that you're using. FWIW, you can still DL the manual for his ECU at Link Engine Management Systems - plug-in & wire-in aftermarket ECU's ..... If not, I think I still have a copy of it.

Can you give me an example of what the AFR's should look like? I've looked at the links, I just can't remember what freaking model it was. Thanks for the help so far guys! | |
