Like the title says. I spent hours searching and I even dug through the "Impreza compatibility" thread, but every where I read it doesnt specify what year STI, or a question of what year isnt really answered. Any specifics that would fit a 2001 RS stock engine? Search function was used. Thanks all.

i swapped out my 99RS alternator for an 04/05 USDM STi Alternator. no problems at all. there are no fitment issues, no wiring issues and no plug issues at all. the headlights/foglights and dash lights are just a BIT bright, but nothing else really.

93-01 Impreza are 75amps. 02-04 STi are 90amps. 05-07 STi are 100amps.

Swapped in an 04 STi alt into my 00RS. Bolts in. Plug-n-play. Direct replacement. I think mine was a JDM alt too? Dunno if there's a difference between that and USDM though...

| The 99 or 2000 legacy is also 90amps and is plug and play. I have one that I swapped my defective one for at Advance. I put the 97 jdm wrx alternator on to drive to the parts store and it works fine so the "new/rebuilt" one is for sale. I'm going to buy a 200 amp alternator from the Iraggi guy on fleabay, my amplifiers crush 90amp alternators like grapes.

These are great rep's. Thanks for the alternative, 2slo4u. What about the newer STI's 06+ for fitment? Greatly appreciated.
