Default Engine management system 500hp

Hey...
I am thinking of swapping my engine management in my rs from electromotives Tec3 standalone to a more user friendly system. No one wants to touch the tec3 system in my area anyways. So having it tuned on a dyno is nearly impossible. I am a little confussed when it comes to which one to choose though.

I currently have a 2000 impreza rs with Ej257 bottom end and ej251 heads. What is an engine management system dependant on? Heads or harness in the car?

Plus what would be my best bet? I used to have an aem ems sytem in my older dsm and that thing was gold. But I cant seem to find an AEM EMS system for the rs.

Can anyone help me out?

Currently have:

I'd get with your tuner to see what they are most experienced (comfortable) with. Honestly, most systems are pretty close in features nowadays, so it boils down to what the tuner likes to work with. Plug&play has it's benefits over wire-in....but if your tuner doesn't know the details of the system, it's not going to do you any good.

This is the exact position I'm in now. Need a system. Though in my area I have a tuner for every system

What problems are you having with Tec 3? What makes it difficult to tune?
Also, when you'll be selling it, any idea on how much you'll be asking?

Find a tuner with an excellent reputation. Ask him what he likes. Go with that. I have AEM in my s2000 and couldn't be happier

There are no tuners in my immediate area. The best tuner I know is in Rochester, NY and lives by AEM EMS. He also does Custom ECU Flashes, DSM Link, ECMLink Tuning, and AFC Tuning. Would rather go to this tuner because he has one of the few AWD dynos in the area (within 400 miles)

Just not sure how to addapt an AEM MES unit to my car. Im still a newb...but im learning fast.

gata say hydra man, its very user friendly, even me knowing nothing about tuning cars at all had the idea down and just following the simple instructions got the hang of playing around with it.. element tuning gives you step by step and trouble shooting guide that is bery well writen and plug-n-play is always a +
