The OBX exhaust from headers back dosent have any cats. It just has two resonators that are made to look like cats. Im going to post a picture of my RPM needle bouncing of the rev limiter at 6200. Also I will post a pic of my new intake Im making that will have: cone filter, MAF sensor, and torque box. | |

| Hey Supers, Took off the short ram and hooked the torque box back up, and I am totally amazed. Modded the box, borrowed the idea from SubySal except I didn't have enough pipe to make it a CAI, reset the ECU, test drove and the RPM's cut off at 6500. The intake got a lot quieter so I discovered an exhaust leak too. It seems like the RPM's drop a little slower but I think that might have something to do with an O2 sensor or two going bad. The car deffinatly pulls a lot harder. You should of seen the look of suprise on my face when I revved it passed 6k in the garage. Long story short I speed reflash works and torque box works. |

| Glad I could help KarateJoe ![]() You know I was quite surprised too at the effects of modding the airbox. It's not my idea though. I got the idea from someone who used a 3" rubber elbow and a straight piece of aluminum pipe. I just switched out to an aluminum elbow to make the install easier and lighter. Anyway yes I too noticed the intake quieted down quite a bit. It sounds more open like a full on race car. I also was surprised at the felt power gains. It was really noticeable at high rpm I thought, even more so than when I initially changed out the OE snorkel assembly to the PDM CAI pipe. Your are going from a 2" to 3" opening though. A 50% increase in airflow is no small thing. I for one believe the torque box should stay which is why I went through so much to keep it and make it work. I tend to favor the flat filters too. I think they create less turbulence. You know I've the RS filter is actually bigger than the WRX and STI filters. I'd say it could probably flow enough for a 5.0 liter V8. The reason I bring this up is because I switched back to paper filters after using a K&N for a while and finding some small particles getting though. I know the K&N's flow more, but paper actually filters better. So considering the over-sized filter and the dusty conditions where I live I went for maximum filtration.

| Yeah maximum filtration is good. I have a MAF car so being that MAFs are so expensive I have a K&N cone, MAF, then 3'' pipe going to torque box w/ K&N filter in it. I was able to snag some heat wrap insulation that they use for commercial hood system exhaust duct from work today. Once I get some more pipe I'll make it a CAI and wrap it with that and post up some pics. Thanks again everybody for your help. This is the best site ever in my opinion. Joe |
