Oh, you're one of those guys.. That makes sense, I'll try it when it's here

Props for having the guts to jump into this project. By the way, I saw you opened up the fog cover to allow air into the intake, since you eliminated the stock airbox you should remove that white plastic silencer in the fenderwell. It comes out by pulling back the fenderwell liner and yanking it out. It will allow air to come in those holes.

Very cool looking, I wonder what a plexiglas or lexan scoop for that would look like? You're going to scare a lot of ricers with that thing for sure, lol.

Believe it or not, I'm actually a HUGE, HUGE perfectionist when it comes time for me to want something looking good (I'm a professional portrait artist on the side, that's where it comes from) so this thing took me my entire day from noon to midnight on Sunday to do, with more little patches of tape here and there than any bodyshop would ever use haha. Now it's time to control my building ADD and get this Tactrix cable done!!! I sure hope I can solder individual copper strands to connection points that aren't much bigger themselves..

Annd more pics now

Good eyes and good idea, but the cover came off from the crash that crunched the corner of my hood lol. I actually do think I'm gonna do something there, I'm just not sure what yet (intercooler piping may get in the way)

I'm building a fiberglass hood right now with like a 3" power bulge on it for more room under the hood, and it's gonna be topped off with a removeable fiberglass cowl, built in similar fashion to the ones on funny cars.. Should be pretty cool looking, 'specially with the new black metallic paintjob that's going with it (yep, doing that myself too ) Plexiglass/lexan would be awesome for a little while, but I think it would end up getting chipped pretty badly, or dirty in the end- I want her to stay low maintenance haha

And yes I scare ricers haha. My car currently (and only currently!) has less power than any WRX, yet all the ricer guys just stare slackjawed as I drive by. I can't push the car anyways since it's not tuned right (HURRY UP AND SHIP MY NEW CABLE ARGGGG) so I just kinda drive away normally every time and apparently it gives off the effect of looking like I shouldn't even waste my time with them, being oh so far out of their league haha

PS.. It's time to let the world know- I'm starting a business, FRANKENSTEIN CUSTOM FABRICATION and should be registered with the state in a few weeks My car is going to be my big feature build with the name all over it, and rest assured I will be going all out on her. Black metallic paintjob, my green and gray Frankenstein Customs logo on it (painted on by yours truly, with fades and cracking effects and whatnot!) and potentially coming this fall... another GM M90 for that empty spot on the right side of the hood . Figure if I bring the compression to 8.5:1 instead of 9:1, when I rebuild the motor, I could up the boost and throw another one of these dirt-cheap superchargers on there, and go for 20 psi or something around there Sure, I could overspin the one I have right now, but it's old and I need to rebuild it (rebuild kit is on the way) so I don't want to push it past it's limits when I could just slap a brother next to it!!

Ohhhh the plans and building excuses you come up with once you realize your car is now your mobile company advertising On that note everyone, once I have a lathe in my shop (currently only use lathes at my work, gotta get my own) I will gladly, inexpensively, do all the custom metal working you need done- things that most companies wouldn't bother with or would charge too much for because it's just quick and easy work. Pulleys, bushings, brackets (my welding is getting much better lol) and anything else you can think of. This is a passion and a job on the side right now, so I'll do it all whether or not I'm making money on it

PSS.. just hit 2.2 liters in my profile, woooo

Spud- props on making Jalopnik, sounds like a lot of people on there appreciate what you did. Don't worry about the chumps. They've seen too many ghetto fiberglass supercars built in Eastern European garages and have become jaded.

Here's a thought-- with a custom intake manifold, do you think you could nest a smaller blower (E62 maybe) in the space currently taken up by the stock manifold? I'm thinking of intake runners that start way down, almost touching the top of the block, before curving back up and down into the heads. The blower pulley would then occupy the space currently taken up by the alternator. With a custom bracket, you could relocate the alternator to the A/C compressor's old home.

It would clearly be more expensive, but it could eliminate the need to cut holes in your hood and provide a cleaner, symmetrical install. If you are looking to sell this as a kit I think that's a much more appealing product.

Thanks for the props Yeah I think it looks like most of Jalopnik at the very least appreciated what I did, and frankly, the guys that dissed it gave me a good laugh, so no harm done haha

Good thinking with the manifold idea, but I think that would be a lot more expensive than necessary, as there is plenty of room on the passenger side of the engine bay to fit the supercharger without having to remove the AC to begin with, so I would assume anyone going M62 would want to do that (as both Skidd and reddevil have successfully.) If the ABS gets in the way, you can either get a longer nose for the supercharger and tuck it into the huuuuge open space in the back area of the passenger side, or just move the ABS system somewhere else (I'm pretty sure Skidd was able to work around his though, so it shouldn't really be an issue)

As far as being symetrical- If all goes according to plan, I'll be making my rig symetrical via throwing another M90 next to the current one later this summer haha. I'm hoping for 20 pounds of boost (from 1,600 RPMs!!!) at a compression ratio of maybe 8.5:1 or so when all is said and done, and given that the GM M90s go for less than $200 on ebay and that rebuild kits are $80, it will be easy enough to do once my internals are beefier

Man that's a lot of freaking cutting/gluing/sanding/filing/steel brushing. Little blue foam balls EVERYWHERE and I'm like 1/3 the way done lol (basically, it now fits snugly in the bay, and I can start shaping the top). This hood is gonna take forever, totally gonna be worth it though
