Agreed. I think all the newbs need to back off. 1... because you don't know this car. 2... you don't know the owner. 3... I think everyone on here should list their GC for sale way above what most people think is "realistic".

I have this plot that if everyone on here posts their swapped GC for sale around 24-25k we'll drive the price of the GC chassis up. It's already holding on quite well. I've seen some stock 2.5RS' go for more than a 2002 WRX.

cheers

This thread is really starting to get to me. I hope it sells

As well as other threads on here with n00bs busting up on price. This is why the GC market is starting to flood with ex-honda owners and overall dummies.

"I have this plot that if everyone on here posts their swapped GC for sale around 24-25k we'll drive the price of the GC chassis up."

^this is great in theory, because it would keep the real enthusiasts here by making it so $$ and hard to find, but whos to say you cant be one and build a budget car. Honestly though, its on the downturn, GC and older Impreza chassis are being had on the cheap, and why shouldnt they be? They are great cars to build especially on the cheap...But now everyone is jumping on the wagon... or

It just urks me, because I maintain both(2) of my low mileage RS's very very well, Im not selling them anytime soon, but I can only expect to see the same kind of price-bashing when I do post the car for sale for 10g's.

I would love to see SubaruMan post something in this thread. Hope the car goes to a good owner.:0

Yeah, it would be nice to keep the civic kids out. I'm hoping it's at least the classier of the civic kids coming in to our scene. I think the GC crowd seems to be able to fly under the radar. Our GC community is still a great place. The GD crowd is getting hit pretty hard with prices falling on the 02 WRXs and tools flocking to the now affordable sports car.

For me, it's like a students first year of law school. As a student you show up. You've been to college you know how to handle this. You walk in beaming. Nothing new here... until the bell rings. You have a four foot stack of books due by Friday. There's competition between the students to succeed. It's pretty much the worst year of your life. They test you. You explain how badly you want out to strangers on the subway. How bad do you want this? Most give up... I feel that's the thing about the GC. You have to WANT it. If you stack up the feature sets on a 2.5RS and a WRX you get a much quieter car with a lot more horsepower potential out of the box with the WRX. Bigger brakes. A stronger chassis. Yet, they're almost the same price on the used car market. So most clowns are going to gravitate to the WRX. Whereas what we have going for us, as 2.5RS/L enthusiasts, is people that are genuinely passionate about the style, minimalist nature and tradition the GC/GF offers. In my experience there is no greater pain and no greater pride when building Subarus than to build a 2.5RS or an L. (Wait for me next blog update. YIKES!) I've personally been on the edge of giving up many many times. I will admit.

Sooo. To bring this back on topic. 22,000 dollars for an immaculate condition 2.5RS. It's not really that unreasonable. Those of us that have been working on Subarus for over 5, 6, 7 years or close to a decade now, we know how hard this is to achieve. I wish I had that car. I would be ecstatic with it's 165HP, nimble suspension and ripping exhaust note. I would park it in my garage and drive it leisurely up the coast on weekends. Wash it down after the drive and return it to the garage under it's car cover. What I find special about this car is that it has everything you really want in a 2.5RS and nothing you don't need. It's tastefully modified, clean. You can get in it and just enjoy driving it and know that it will serve you well for many more years. And I think that is who he is looking for as a potential buyer.

cheers

poorman

well said sir. exactly my thoughts. I've been on the edge of ditching the love because of parts becoming soo overpriced and hard to find(the good shit). Although its dumb price-bashing on cars and stupid high pricing on items that makes me wonder about things around here. For someone like me(whos still learning), alot of the guys(experts) I used to rely on for good quality tips and answers are now gone or somewhere else. No offense but taking tips from a 19yr old who just traded his civic in for a RS-only to bash on pricing(noone in particulur or the OP), just isnt my thing.

FWIW, because someone has a fairly new join date doesnt make them NOOB to the auto scene, many of them could have built more cars than many of the OG members have owned
dont let a join date on a forum dictate who the individual is.

^ I also agree with that statement, as well as Poorman's novel on the GC scene (which many of you know I agree with when I stated the same thing in my ROTM thread).

That said.

That is a lot of money to pay for a 12 year old car, I don't care how many posts you have or when you joined the forum.

Yea it got a lil off topic there, I dont think it matters that hes been here longer, it just helps, and its generally a great car in great condition. I think it's priced fair to someone that will really enjoy the car, even driving it up the coast like PoorMan said

I'm sure a good many of us would eat our doubts if we saw the car in person.

you don't need to see it in person. drew's pics speak volumes about it.
