| Quote: Different car. Different motor. Engine management isn't anything more than the Chevy ECM running the v8. heh. Subaru and most other imports have overly complicated ECUs / wiring harnesses. The LSX is just plain sex, needing wheels/shell. The props I get from the truck, mazda -> EJ20. Then the hate that this guy gets from Subaru -> LSX.... sad. He made the car better in almost every way he could... (no Cobra rear diff...yet, heh). Not only did he put the motor in there, but he can easily revert back to stock subaru power with a new subframe and either running no pitch stop or adding the mount back. ![]() ![]() | |

Or maybe it's because every idiot kid with a huge wing and V-TEC YO thinks his car is going to be faster than a 5.0 We're all gearheads. A little tolerance for taste needs to be displayed on both sides.

Ummm... Last I checked we didn't have a sport that involved our cars pulling a million-billion pound chunk of metal off through the mud. And... what about that Ford win at Xgames? This import Verses domestic crap is retarded.

| those engines involved in tractor pulls are modified diesel engines, not LS1's and there are usually like 3 of them put together and they only have to pull in a straight line! what kind of comparison is that? those cars aren't even driveable for any other purpose...i'm talking about actually being able to drive it through turns and such, not just some freak show.

| Here's my take on the whole thing: I own two cars: The Subaru and a 87' Monte Carlo SS. I'm not really a Chevy guy as I like various cars regardless of manufacturer. The Gen III and Gen IV LS motors from GM make rediculous power for little money invested, and I've seen some great swaps that people have already mentioned; RX-7s, Mustangs, Fieros, etc. I have a Gen I small block in my Monte right now, but once that grows tired I'm swapping in a LS-series motor without a doubt. I always admire the work done, but sometimes it just doesn't make sense to transplant a drivetrain from one car into another except for the ability to say, "Yup, I did it". This Subaru swap is one of them. I might piss people off by saying this, but the main appeal of a Subaru to me is that it's an inexpensive AWD car that's easy to work on. The rally stuff is cool, but I didn't know about that when I bought my car, and honestly didn't care. I also like the looks, but I like how a lot of other cars look as well, so that's a moot point. The engine bay isn't huge, so stuffing in a V8 eliminates the first reason why I like Subarus. That V8 also eliminates the other reason, which is the AWD. I'm sure that rear diff isn't going to hold up forever if it's stock, and once he swaps in something from another car (Maybe from an IRS Cobra, T-bird, GTO?), then the only thing left that makes the car a "Subaru" is the body, as the soul of the car is gone. Props deserved for the work done to make it run, but I don't like it as it's not what the car was designed to do. RX7: RWD car with a reputation for blowing up motors Mustang: RWD car with a V8, but a LS-series can make a ton of power for cheap (Debatable as there's a ton of 5.0/4.6/5.4 stuff now) Fiero: Rear-engine RWD car with a 4-cyl/V6, so swapping in a V8 makes for a fun light-weight car Civic: POS that's kinda cool as a RWD just for the "What the hell is that?" factor ![]() Subaru: AWD car converted to RWD..... ![]() Last edited by Dnut; 08-04-2009 at 09:10 AM.. |

Domestics are not a joke. A stock 2.5RS is a joke. A 160hp grocery getter dressed up like a supercar from the factory. Flame away, you know it's the truth.

Didn't the Ford mop up at x-games? Aren't there plenty of Fords in history that have kicked the ever-loving-shit out of the Subarus and other imports at rally? The EJ series motor loves to be a lean little time bomb too.... lets not forget that. Oh, and what about our ring-lands? I'm pretty sure we qualify for being given the short end of the stick in the import world, too. Sure we don't have that famous Rotary pride of tossing a seal, but we sure do have a wonderful pride of blowing the ring-lands out. Been there...done that. DO NOT WANT. And, what better car to swap than my Old Unicorn... out with the Subaru crap, in with the American junk. ![]()

Think about it. The Escort Cosworth, RS200, Focus RS, you know, the GOOD fords? ...any of them sold in the US market? Not as far as I know. That would make them European cars, in my mind, not domestics.
