maybe you didnt say that, but it didnt seem you wanted to give the Cobalt any credit simply because it was a Cobalt...that is retarded. Nobody on here is saying that domestics are the cutting edge of the automotive industry, but some of us(people who are actually old enough to have been around cars for awhile) know that domestics are much better than people give them credit for, whether it be reliability or performance aspects besides straight line performance.

A little word to offer. I feel that every car has it's place. My girlfriend bought an 07 Cobalt last year for dirt cheap. Like 10 grand brand new to be exact. Granted its cheap inside doesnt accelerate for shit etc etc.....But its 10 grand for a brand new car for christ sake. I do agree to an extent that domestic cars were slacking in the 80's and 90's however. The big three had dominated the American car industry for years before that and they were riding their deserved success. However I feel this success in a way got to their heads and instead of building cutting edge cars that were ahead of the time they skated through with mediocrity. This hurt them because Nissan, Mazda, Honda etc all started making a big splash in the US market in the late 80's with car that were efficient and well designed. Since then it seems as though domestic automakers have sort of been playing catch up until recently. Now however they seem to be turning out more quality products that can rival the foreign market a little better. My little rant is in no way to say all domestics are shit. Almost any car when maintained properly can last a very long time.

Yes, there have been a handful of good American cars recently, but most of them seem to just be making too many different products. The Big 3 have been focusing far too much on having a broad spectrum lineup, but then they just make a whole shitload of mediocre models and one or two good ones get sprinkled in here and there seemingly by pure random chance.

Every vehicle serves a seperate purpose. Even if you are looking at the exact same car, two different people can drive it. These people will more than likely have different jobs, different driveways, different climates that they live in, and different preferences on where the car's design was focused on. Some people can deal with a slightly inferior interior for a car that has AWD that can fit their budget since they live in a place that is frequented with snow. Another person with the same budget might have higher standards for a nice interior and possibly wants a convertible for the sunny area he lives in. What it comes down to is that most people don't have the money to have seperate cars for seperate purposes. Why do you think people drive corvettes etc on the road to work? It's not fuel efficient, and they are putting miles on an expensive car. If we all had the money we wanted we could all drive super efficient hybrids, electric cars etc to work, then go to the track in our modified race cars. All the bickering over which car is more worth their price is hardly a valid argument from any standpoint, especially over the internet where you are talking to people in a completely different region than you are from. If you want cost effective power, get a fucking streetbike and shut the hell up. If you want to enjoy modifying your car then continue to do so and appreciate other people with the same hobby even if their car is different than yours, after all isn't that what it is all about? /rant

Meh... I'll still end up with an LSx powered RS. This will be fun. I'll end up wrecking shop on another RS in the "zomgtwisties". Maybe then everyone with stfu. Also, I'll do a weigh in of both engine/transmission sets.
