| 2.5L RS-T | If you have the formula for calculating 1/4 mile without using mass, GPS or an odometer, please share. I remember reading about mass, G's and time and how each is used to calculate HP and distance. Those are the only variables the (original) G-tech uses.

you take off, the accelerometer in the gtech trigers the timer. it then records acceleration as a function of time. integrates it once, gets velocity, twice gets displacement. displacement reaches 1/4 mile, it stops the timer. no weight needed. i bet you can double the weight input into the g-tech and you will still get the same 1/4 time. it just makes no sense that you need weight to measure time/distance test.

| 1.8L | i have a gtech RR for autocross and its quite acurate, my old car would do 15.7 at best in a cold day, on any day above 60F i lost 10tq which adds up quickly with 8250 rpms. so summer time was 16.3-16.1 im quite good at guessing what times would be like cause theres quite a few variables that most calculators ignore HP TQ RPMS Drivetrain Weight most calcs just ask for hp and weight and give numbers way off, given all 5 things the rest is all imputing physics. high rpm hp cars have huge trap times cause they catch up in the end. high tq cars have great launch but lose it past the 1/8th mark. the car i had before the car i had before this one was a cavalier z24, 150hp and tq and about 100lbs less than than a RS. and i ran 16.0-15.7 with just an intake. given that these cars can launch and have about the same in every other way im not understanding why this car cant run mid 15s all day long. |

| My friend stock 00 coupe would do 15.1 last summer. Took the muffler off, put on an intake and lost the ac and he ran 14.6

| I went to our "local" strip yesterday for the first time. I ran a 9.961 in my completely stock '98 RS. That, of course, was on a 1/8 mile track. ![]() My worst time was 10.4xx (first strip race ever) and I ran in the 10.0xx about every time after. I only got under 10 once. 9.961 was the best of the day. I need to let the the clutch out a little slower...I tend to nearly dump it. Not too bad for my first time ever at a strip was it? I don't actually know what our RS's typically run stock. -Nick ![]() Last edited by ZeroPunk; 03-10-2008 at 09:49 PM.. Reason: posting time slip |

| not sure on times, but i had no problems taking mid 15's cars out on street (and that at any speed, up to 110 or so) i then had my car striped and took a/c out, but idk how much faster it got, it defenetly felt a ton better. |
