| When turning right with less than 1/2 a tank of fuel. ![]() ![]() Here it is in the car. ![]() It's not 100% finished yet but most of the fab work is done. I still have to wire up the second fuel pump and mount the pump. While my aluminum welding may not look the business I pressure tested it to 40psi (way more than this tank will ever see) and everything held. I tried to go more but the sides started to bow out. The new pump is a Bosch 044 and the new filter will be inline between the tank and the new pump. |

| How much? I'd say by the time it's all said and done I'll be over $400. The big money items are the fuel pump $200 and the fittings and fuel line $120. As for mounting it in the engine bay. In an all out race car, I agree in mounting it elsewhere. That said this is a street car I autocross, so I had to compromise, I didn't want my trunk to look like uncle Jesse's still. I crawled all around under the car trying to find a good place and there just isn't anywhere that would allow mounting the surge tank vertically. |

| for that kind of money i'm looking at a new set of evo brembos. or an x-brace. crap, shane's mod is much more practical from a price point.

| I'm not sure what Shane's mod is. Everyone has to decide which changes will give them the most benefit. Personally it really bothers me when the car runs out of fuel going around corners. I tried using an RC fuel tank as others have done and while there was an improvement it was minimal. Every other mod I've done to my car to make it faster or handle better has made the fuel starvation problem worse. Even driving on the street with all season tires it will starve if I'm not thinking about the fuel level. My Hydra has even gone to the back-up spark map before because it picked up too much detonation when the pump started sucking air. The cross brace is on my list of things to do but I have something different from what's already been done in mind. |
