Default knocking in engine..... options?

ok, so on my way home from work today I get a knocking sound in my engine. the oil light didn't come on at all but when I got home I checked it anyway. it didn't even register on the dipstick. I put 2 quarts in and it just barely registered at the bottom. anyway, I've got a ej257 shortblock, would it be possible to just drop that in with my heads and accesories untill I can afford to get some wrx or sti heads, intake, wiring harness? oh yeah, almost forgot. this is in a 97 2.2 L

Ya and it would run pretty amazing. You would get a little bit of a compression bump.

I thought an EJ257 would reduce compression? It's designed to have turbo so it should be lower compression.

this is true, but since it will be used with the 2.2heads it will raise the compression cause of the heads and lower it because oof the pistons. overall, he will probably b just a few points below stock c/r..
it should b ok to run n/a tho. if you want to turbo it with those heads, pm me.. I have a few prts that would b useful to u..
