| First off I would like to give a special thanks to rs25.com for all of your help and great threads full of information and well just putting up with me threw all of this. I would not have been able to do my build with out you guys! Please fill free to ask any Questions or Comments. (short story) bought car sep 07 dude lied #4 blew rebuild, turbo, standalone, other dude stole my shit re-buy re-rebuild 2y 5m later still not running 2y 6m later it runs!! just not road worthy!! | Well first off I bought the car sep 07' with no idea what I was getting myself into. This car actually found me while I was driving off base with my brother, I instantly fell in love with it. About two days later I saw the same car in the parking lot and gawked over it from head to toe, as fate would have it about 1 week later none other than the same car had a "For Sale" sign on it (must be fate I said) and I called right then and there to talk to him. Soon after a good bullshitter's talk from the previous owner (who was lying out his ass but it was all the right information he just didn't have it done) and a test drive that it seemed to work perfectly for the car was mine. Well soon after I noticed a lot was wrong with the car so I brought it to a local shop in the area and their first response was, "ahh yes I know this car". I learned that I was played on just about everything . So they told me what they know and I began to research the car, (how I found this site) I learned that my car was running lean as hell due to stock ECU and turbo = bad day . I almost blew my #4 and that I had also blown my center diff, in fact the snap ring was bent all to hell and blew a hole in my tranny case (never found out if the center diff was actually bad or not just replaced). Well then I was faced with that point we all come to and make a choice to either cut my losses or rebuild. So naturally I began to order parts, and parts, and more parts. Witch I will go more into detail in further entries from tear down to build up, Enjoy!!

| The tear down went fairly smooth as I slowly took the engine apart to inspect everthing and remove all the old parts, I'm sorry I didnt take more pictures but it was before I thought I would document this matter. I took the car to my friends shop and he let me use his lift and space for a small fee. We started with just a general inspection and after hearing noise in the number 4 I said "the hell with it, let's just rebuild everything so I don't have to do this agian". Here are a few pictures that I did manage to take after the fact. I ran out of room for parts and kept losing them lol. ![]()

| This thread is mo betta than your first one ![]() Sorry to see you got played. I personally refuse to buy vehicles modified by people I don't know, in general I don't buy modified vehicles because I like to do that stuff myself too much. A little blood, sweat, and tears makes it more than just a car to me and that's the best part ![]()

| yeah, well i planed on working on it anyways, and its only my fault i got played, its like paying way to much at the dealership, is it your fault or theirs for selling you the car?? I grew up driving my 93 gsx, so i just wanted another 4 cyl awd turbo and didnt think to reserch the car b4 i bought it... but you have to admit it looks damn sexy!! I was also an idiot when i wrote the 1'st one, thats why i decited to redo it now that i have spent the last year + doing nothing but reading up on the car ... sry for being a dumbass b4 ...

| the true test of a man's will is to able to admit when you are wrong. I have no problems doing that, I can learn from my mistakes and move on to better things. ![]()

| Well after I got everything torn down I started with ordering the RA cryo gear set with all the internals. I found a guy in NC (about 1.5 hours away) to do that for me because I don’t have a press around or the experience. About one week later I picked that up and it was ready to install. I also bought an 04 rs transmission to steal the center diff off of because mine was shot. After that came the problem of engine management. I wanted something that would last and handle whatever I decided to throw at the car. This is how I came about the Hydra, now $1,800 is a lot but I also know it will work as I want it to and last. Then came the problem of not liking the idea of stock headers w/ welded up-pipe and stock WRX TMIC the previous owner came up with. So in came the Perrin FMIC with custom pipes made by Dyno Inc and painted by Auto Elite. After buying a "speedyracer" borla rep. header off ebay and realizing that the up-pipe was angled wrong and sat under the engine and crossmember crushing it, I forked over the $$ and got a real borla. I decided to keep the tdo4 for now, 8-12 psi is a good range at the moment and I like the idea of fast spool up over top end power. Then I thought I was ready to build my car... The front N/A cross member doesn't like turbo headers so in came the 04 STI front cross member. Well alignment was great until the steering rack wouldn’t fit ( me not doing the proper research ). So came next, the 07 STI steering rack and new brackets. This lead to another problem (again me not doing my research) the pinion on the steering rack doesn’t match the steering U-joint. So I also ordered the U-joint and did the old cut and weld application. Well then I said to myself with the better steering rack I will need more suspension, now that might not make sense to some people but i have learned that any suby owner makes up what ever we can to do suspension mods . So in came the sways and struts as seen below. I still need to make up my mind on the rest of my suspension and stopping power mods. Well what to do with a 1/2 shot motor? Rebuild! So the teardown began and what to start with? Block and head to machine shop for a little R&R. Pistons ordered and rods sent off too. Then I found a good deal on valves and valve springs so i bought them. Also got all new bearings, gaskets, seals, and head bolts and got the fuel injectors, might be a little over board but we will see how they run. Still in process of ordering spark plugs. Got the fuel pump as well and slowly ordered and bought the rest of the parts as time went on. ---- Random Pictures below to enjoy! ![]() one of the things i ordered for no reason, guess that little bit or ricer from my childhood is left over lol! <-- removed and trashed.. ![]() Only the center dash came out okay.. will take off some day ( noted again, it is removed ) ( note guage pod not included ) ![]() ![]() The <a href="http://www.rs25.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=195">ebay</a> f/r strut bars, yes they where 11$ shiped lol but better than nothing for now lol ![]() as mentioned above the steering rack has a square bracket but yet the turbo x-member is round, doh' The Rear sway bar installed for fun ![]() ![]() The Front sway bar .. ![]() The engine back together, that only took 9 months lol ![]() The Best Mod EVER!!! | Please dont point out every mistake as it says on top it is under construction!! this will be gone over and fixed, i know i dont spell the best and i dont have alot of time so i do little by little.. though i do appreciate all input.
