Default My new brighton

Figured I would start my own thread.

I bought a 96 brighton, for the sole purpose of building a true racecar to compete with. My plans for the car are as follows: 2.7L race motor, STI 6sp, complete fuel system, AEM standalone, Gt35r turbo, one wicked racing suspension, custom wiring harness, LGT intake manifold, custom intercooler setup, STI brakes, STI hubs and suspension, Stack digital dash, full 12 point rollcage, 265/40/18 wheels and tires, two racing seats, tranny and diff coolers, and few other things here and there.

For now These pics are of the 2.7L motor, STI tranny, my new pimp 22 gallon fuel cell, 06 sti roof spoiler, and R180 diff. As the car sits right now the car weights 1910lbs, I figure I still have about 450lbs to put into her with the turbo kit, plumbing, cage, and few other things here and there.

I still have alot left to do to the car, but will keep updating this thread with new pics as I complete them.

Sounds like a good plan and a lot of work ahead. I look forward to seeing the progress and results!

p.s. - Like the STi roof spoiler. Where'd you get it and how much was it?

why a LGT intake arent they composite? I heard they are limited to 300-350hp on that manifold.

3 reasons

#1 the LGT has a larger plenum, larger runners, and longer runners. Not to mention they flow alot more cfm than the STI's.

#2 I am running the LGT manifold in reverse, so it places the throttle body to the front passanger side. This way the intercooler piping will go from the turbo to the passanger side of the intercooler. Then out of the intercooler on the same passanger side and to the throttle body. This way I have about 1/4 of the piping of a usuall intercooler setup.

#3 they are composite, which means the retain less heat. Less heat means more HP. Now while they aren't designed to run large amounts of boost, it will be plenty for me since I only plan on running 21-23psi.

Got most of the cage done minus a few bars in the back. No weight on the car yet, but will update later once the cage is complete.
