No surprises here. I'm actually really impressed with how well the Bel Air stood up structurally. It was built in a time of slide rules and note pads, no computers or finite element analysis or detailed crash telemetry. However the prevailing wisdom in those days was to make the car as strong as it could be with no regard to passenger restraint or energy dissipation. What resulted was cars that were recognizable after a crash containing passengers that were not.
