Default DIY: Installing Gauge EGT probe in stock location

So my stock EGT sensor was damaged on my engine before the swap.

So i just removed it completely, put a M12x1.25 plug in the bung, and soldered a 2.2ohm resistor on the end of the plug.

I just bought a Prosport EGT gauge and didnt want to drill another hold into my exhaust manifold, so i decided i would make use of the stock EGT hole in the uppipe.

Now the problem is that the stock sensor is M12 x 1.25 and the new prosport sensor is 1\8" NPT.

First i went to ACE hardware and bought a 1/8" to 1/4" pipe coupler. It cost $.73. And i also got a M12 x 1.25 die which cost about $7.00.

Heres the EGT probe as it comes from Prosport

Here is the insert that comes with the EGT probe

I made sure that the coupler i bought and the EGT probe would bolt to each other.

And here is it all together.

Now take it all apart, grab your die and die the outside of the coupler to M12 x 1.25.
It kinda took a while for the bolt to grab because its quite a bit bigger then the tap. i filed down the threads a little before hand to speed up the process.

Heres the coupler all died out

I also tapped the inside of the coupler out a little to allow the EGT fitting to completely screw into the coupler.

Now attach the coupler and the EGT fitting tightly together.

Now screw the coupler and the fitting into the uppipe where the stock EGT would go.

Now screw the EGT probe back into the fitting and BAM easy as pie!
