I've heard the copper spray on the headgasket works great to fill in any imperfections as well. When I do mine I'm definatly gona check that stuff out.

They work on composite gaskets well but I've never seen a issue with a stock 3 layer metal Subaru gasket sealing. All of the new subaru gaskets are great.

Speaking of gaskets does anyone know the part number for the engine gasket kit that includes all the bits for the headgasket? The dealer quoted me 250 after a discount.

this is a great DIY, can u also use a wire brush to clean off the old gaskets

Wire brush is probably a little harsh. I would stick to scotch bright which wont damage the surface.

I used a BRASS bristle brush all over the place, it didn't damage anything at all.
combined with a bit of engine cleaner or goof-off, it made everything really nice for the re-assembly

What is the difference in the head bolts?

You need a 12 point socket and probably the biggest breaker bar you own.

I didn't need that big of a breaker bar for mine... just all my weight
